Veteran warrior Todd (Kurt Russell) is rendered obsolete by a new breed of fighters and relegated to DSer, an outpost on the outer rim of the universe. October 21st 1998: Some updated info: "My husband was an actor-stuntman on Soldier and I don't know where your info came from but Kurt didn't get hurt at home. He stepped on a grip cable on the set and injured his ankle. I thought you might the correct info. We just saw the premiere screening and it's one great movie. Hope you get to see film soon." August 4th 1998: Cinescape Online reports that although it's not being promoted as a sequel to Blade Runner, screenwriter David Webb Peoples calls Soldier a "sidequel" that takes place in the same universe.

April 1998: Gary Busey ("Lethal Weapon") has signed to star in Soldier, a sci-fi/action flick starring Kurt Russell as a veteran intergalactic soldier whose replaced by a new breed of genetically-superior warriors. Busey will play Kurt Russell's superior officer in the film.

February 1st 1998: While Kurt Russell is known as an athletic actor who does a lot of his own stunts on the set, home is another matter. Russell broke his foot in a household accident Monday and has been gritting through the pain working on the Paul Anderson-directed Warner Bros. action film "Soldier." The film, which will be retitled, stars Russell as a futuristic super-soldier pitted against a superior warrior, played by Jason Scott Lee.

January 1998: Connie Nielson ("The Devil's Advocate") has been cast as Sandra, the female lead in Soldier.

November 1997: Jason Scott Lee ("Dragon") join the cast.

July 1996: Kurt Russell ("Breakdown") signs on to star in Paul Anderson's "Soldier" for $15 million.
