Deep Blue Sea

The film is about a group of scientists and workers at a damaged and sinking marine research facility off the coast of Baja, Calif., who are forced to battle genetically enhanced sharks that have the intelligence of dolphins and the ferocity of their own species.

March 15th 1999: The Official Site recently added some new images from this upcoming action film starring Thomas Jane, Samuel L. Jackson, Stellan Skarsgård, Saffron Burrows, LL Cool J and Michael Rapaport. 'DBS' looks set to be released August 6th, 1999 in the US.

January 5th 1999: Below is a short report for this upcoming action film directed by Renny Harlin. A very special thanks to 'Anonymous' for the info:

Samuel Jackson plays RUSSELL FRANKLIN. Franklin has invested 200 million dollars into the shark research being conducted at Aquatica. Stellan portrays DR. JAMES WHITLOCK. We spoke to Renny today and the film will be released in June. We saw the sharks on the set and they are awesome. Some are remote controlled and a man can swim on them and it looks totally real. The cast was all in a great mood, happy to be part of the film.

December 8th 1998: Some production art for the film was recently relased at the official site. The teaser has also been released for this upcoming action movie directed by Renny Harlin ("Cliffhanger," "The Long Kiss Goodnight"), and starring Samuel L. Jackson, Deborah Unger, Stellan Skarsgård and LL Cool J.

July 23rd 1998: LL Cool J and Michael Rapaport have joined the cast of "Deep Blue Sea'' for director Renny Harlin. LL Cool J will play Dudley, and Rapaport will portray Scoggins, two members of a team of scientists forced to battle genetically enhanced sharks off the coast of Baja California.

July 16th 1998: Samuel L. Jackson is set to join "Deep Blue Sea," a sea-faring action movie directed by Renny Harlin. Stellan Skarsgård ("Good Will Hunting") and Saffron Burrows ("Circle of Friends") and Thomas Jane will co-star.

June 29th 1998: Thomas Jane will star in Renny Harlin's big-budget, special effects-driven "Deep Blue Sea." The Warner Bros. film is about a school of mako sharks made smarter, faster and more vicious through biomedical engineering. In an offshore laboratory, however, things begin to go deadly wrong. Jane will play the lab's shark wrangler who leads survivors in escaping the deadly fish.

May 1st 1998: Director Renny Harlin's big-budget, underwater actioner "Deep Blue Sea" will be the second film to go under Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow's new co-production deal, the studio said Thursday. Shooting begins August 3 at the Fox Baja Studios in Mexico. Story is about a scientist who, through genetic engineering, produces sharks with the intelligence of dolphins.
