November 10th 1999: John Cleese, who plays the comical "young assistant" to "Q" (Desmond Llewelyn) in "TWINE," has already signed on for three more 007 movies, he said. But Llewelyn, Cleese and longtime Bond franchise producer Michael Wilson all say that despite the introduction of an assistant to "Q" - the character is jokingly dubbed "R" by Bond in the movie - Llewelyn will continue to play the role of "Q" as long as he wants.

June 17th 1999: The Unofficial TWINE site has added an exclusive interview with stunt co-ordinator Simon Crane, who is currently completing production on 'The World Is Not Enough.' Playing Bond for the third time is just like wearing a pair of old shoes ("There aren't the kinds of stresses and strains there were on the first one") and the formula is exactly the same as ever. "It's been working for 32 years. Why change it?"

January 15th 1999: ShowBIZ reports that John Cleese has been cast in the new James Bond film, The World Is Not Enough, as a "bumbling government worker," the British tabloid The Sun reported Wednesday. The former Monty Python member reportedly will play an assistant to Q, the agent who has provided high-tech gadgets to Bond since the initial films. Production of the Bond movie started earlier this week at Pinewood Studios.

January 10th 1999: Robert Carlyle ("The Full Monty") is set to play James Bond's arch rival in the latest Bond saga. Carlyle plays Renard, who has a bullet lodged in his brain which makes him immune to pain, in "The World Is Not Enough,'' a fast-paced thriller set in the oil world. Production begins next week in London, with location shooting scheduled for Turkey, Spain and the French Alps. The film is set for release in November, the film's production company announced Friday.

Victor Ashby January 7th 1999: Actor, model and bodybuilder Victor Ashby from Oslo is set to star in the upcoming Bond film. "My contract forbids me to reveal any details," Victor said to a local newspaper. More info on his role will probably pop up eventually.

December 12th 1998: Sophie Marceau ("Braveheart") will co-star in the latest installment of the James Bond franchise. She will play Elektra King, the daughter of a murdered oil tycoon whom Bond (Pierce Brosnan) was assigned to protect. Michael Apted directs the still untitled "Bond 19'' picture, which begins production Jan. 11 in locations around the world and is slated for release from MGM on Nov. 19, 1999. Bruce Feirstein is rewriting a script originally written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

December 9th 1998: Denise Richards ("Starship Troopers" and "Wild Things") has been cast as a nuclear weapons expert named Dr. Christmas Jones opposite Pierce Brosnan in the next James Bond flick. It will begin shooting January 11th in the U.K. and Turkey with Michael Apted ("Gorillas in the Mist") directing. It is scheduled for a November 19th 1999 release.

August 5th 1998: Michael Apted ("Thunderheart") is in negotiations to take the helm of MGM's next James Bond film. Pierce Brosnan will be taking on the role of agent 007 for the third time, and the picture is slated to begin production in January. The storyline may involve a woman adversary who has a personal grudge against the suave secret agent.
