June 17th 1999: The Unofficial TWINE site has added an exclusive interview with stunt co-ordinator Simon Crane, who is currently completing production on 'The World Is Not Enough.' The interview, which was recorded earlier in the week, mostly concerns his job as stunt co-ordinator, plus his work on Bond 19, and can be listened to via audio samples. January 15th 1999: ShowBIZ reports that John Cleese has been cast in the new James Bond film, The World Is Not Enough, as a "bumbling government worker," the British tabloid The Sun reported Wednesday. The former Monty Python member reportedly will play an assistant to Q, the agent who has provided high-tech gadgets to Bond since the initial films. Production of the Bond movie started earlier this week at Pinewood Studios. January 10th 1999: Robert Carlyle ("The Full Monty") is set to play James Bond's arch rival in the latest Bond saga. Carlyle plays Renard, who has a bullet lodged in his brain which makes him immune to pain, in "The World Is Not Enough,'' a fast-paced thriller set in the oil world. Production begins next week in London, with location shooting scheduled for Turkey, Spain and the French Alps. The film is set for release in November, the film's production company announced Friday. December 12th 1998: Sophie Marceau ("Braveheart") will co-star in the latest installment of the James Bond franchise. She will play Elektra King, the daughter of a murdered oil tycoon whom Bond (Pierce Brosnan) was assigned to protect. Michael Apted directs the still untitled "Bond 19'' picture, which begins production Jan. 11 in locations around the world and is slated for release from MGM on Nov. 19, 1999. Bruce Feirstein is rewriting a script originally written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. December 9th 1998: Denise Richards ("Starship Troopers" and "Wild Things") has been cast as a nuclear weapons expert named Dr. Christmas Jones opposite Pierce Brosnan in the next James Bond flick. It will begin shooting January 11th in the U.K. and Turkey with Michael Apted ("Gorillas in the Mist") directing. It is scheduled for a November 19th 1999 release.
