The Unfaithful: George Clooney continues the search for his next project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, negotiations have broken off for the actor to star in director Adrian Lyne's "Unfaithful" for Fox 2000, which was slated to shoot in the fall. Clooney met late last month with Lyne on the project. Clooney still plans to appear in the remake of the 1960 Rat Pack feature "Ocean's Eleven," scheduled to shoot in early 2001. Spider-Man: Scott Rosenberg ("High Fidelity," "Beautiful Girls") has been tapped to rewrite the high-priority Sam Raimi-helmed actioner "Spider-Man" for Columbia Pictures. Variety reports that Rosenberg will rework the script, which has already undergone two incarnations from David Koepp ("Stir of Echoes"). Mark - Script Review (Mixed) The Matrix 2 & 3: There's been a great deal of speculation about whether or not Jet Li would appear in the forthcoming "Matrix" sequels. Very reliable sources have just revealed to IGN FilmForce that Li will appear in both sequels, which will soon shoot back-to-back in Australia. Thanks to 'Brian.' See Spot Run: Michael Clarke Duncan ("The Green Mile") is in negotiations to join David Arquette in "See Spot Run" for producer Robert Simonds. The project, budgeted in the $15 million-$20 million range, is slated to begin shooting in Vancouver next week. According to THR, "Spot" revolves around a mailman (Arquette) who takes care of a dog that, unbeknownst to him, is an FBI drug-sniffing superdog. The canine has escaped from the witness protection program after becoming the target of an assassination. Duncan would play the role of FBI agent Murdoch, the dog's partner and obsessive trainer. Leslie Bibb ("The Skulls") rounds out the cast as Arquette's love interest, a single mom with a young son, played by Angus Jones ("Simpatico").
Champs: Burt Reynolds ("Boogie Nights") will join Sylvester Stallone in the auto-racing actioner "Champs" for director Renny Harlin. Reynolds will play a wheelchair-bound former driver. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is slated to start shooting next month. Stallone penned the script, which tells the story of two competing race-car drivers, one a veteran, the other an up-and-comer. Titan A.E.: The newly-opened MovieHeadlines.Net recently conducted an interview with "Titan A.E." co-director Gary Goldman. Enigma: A review of Tom Stoppard and Hannah Weg's "Enigma" script, based on the thriller by Robert Harris. This revised draft is dated April 12th, 2000. Dougray Scott and Kate Winslet star in this project, which is now filming under the direction of Michael Apted. Minor spoilers. Thanks to 'Stax at IGN FilmForce.' Enigma - Script Review (Mixed/Positive) Stealing Stanford: Owen Wilson ("Shanghai Noon") is in early negotiations with Universal Pictures to star in the crime comedy "Stealing Stanford." The script, written by Martin Hynes, revolves around a middle-class man who turns to a life of crime in order to finance his niece's first year at Stanford University. According to Variety, actor-director Bruce McCulloch, a member of the sketch comedy troupe the Kids in the Hall, is also in negotiations to helm "Stealing Stanford." Big Trouble: Janeane Garofalo has signed to join the ensemble cast of "Big Trouble" for director Barry Sonnenfeld. Garofalo has been cast as a police officer in the story of a group of people whose lives are interrupted when a nuclear device inside a suitcase is rigged to go off in a Miami airport. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Patrick Warburton ("Seinfeld") will play her partner. "Trouble" stars Tim Allen, Rene Russo, Katie Holmes, Tom Sizemore, Dennis Farina, Jason Lee and DJ Qualls.
Cherry Falls: A German poster for the horror flick "Cherry Falls," starring Jay Mohr, Brittany Murphy and Michael Biehn. Thanks to 'CyberHadez' and CherryFalls.de. Besson/Li Project: Luc Besson will write, produce and finance an as-of-yet untitled film to star Jet Li. It will marry elements of Besson's "The Professional" with "Fist of Legend," one of Li's best-known Hong Kong films. Though the film doesn't yet have a title, it has a fall start date and will be Li's next film. It's unclear who will direct at this point, as Besson's participation is limited to writing and producing. The film came about as the result of a meeting between Besson and Li. Li came up with the idea, Besson sparked to it, and set to work on the script. More >>> Cut II: Info on a possible sequel for the recent Australian horror film "Cut." Thanks to Clint. "Pat Conlan, of "Video Trader" magazine has spoken to Kimble Rendall, the director of "Cut" and it seems that the proposed sequel he planned before the film flopped is all still go. Rendall tells Conlan "We're working on a sequel. Part of the deal with Trimark, who are releasing it in the USA, was to do a sequel. So Dave (Warner, the writer) and I are working on a new treatment for it now. If we can get the script out, we may be filming the sequel early next year. It will be quite different, we'll develop it on from this one. It will be a stand alone film that works on it's own, even if you haven't seen CUT. There will be links to it but we think we can develop it further." In other surprising news, it seems "CUT" is getting a theatrical release in America in September and it's also just about to open in South America and the United Kingdom. Apparently, Kimble says, it's huge on the internet and there are even "CUT 2" sites out there." Joe's Last Chance: Intermedia has optioned rights to first-time screenwriter Dwayne Smith's comedy spec script "Joe's Last Chance" for mid-six figures. Described as in the vein of "Analyze This," the script revolves around a dedicated hit man who is saved by his target, a womanizing man. To thank him, the hit man grants him two extra days to live. During that period, the hit man takes his first vacation and falls in love; unfortunately, he is not adept at wooing women, so he appeals to his target for help. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Outlaw Prods., which has a production deal with Intermedia, will produce the project. Harry Potter: British actress Maggie Smith is in talks to play Professor Minerva McGonagall in Warner Bros.' feature film version of J.K. Rowling's best seller "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" for director Christopher Columbus and producer David Heyman. The studio confirmed Monday that talks are ongoing with Smith, but at this stage, it is not clear if the parties will be able to work out the dates. McGonagall is deputy headmistress at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and head of the Gryffindor House, where Potter is a pupil. According to THR, the studio is mulling the idea of making Potter's arch nemesis, Voldemort, a CGI character.

Based on a Japanese Manga comic book series about a little girl who is initially reluctant to learn that she has psychic powers, the project has a long Hollywood history, according to Variety. Tim Burton was once attached to direct the film for defunct studio Carolco; later, Francis Ford Coppola developed the property. A.E. - Film Review (Positive) Juwanna Mann: Vivica A. Fox has signed to star in Morgan Creek's comedy "Juwanna Mann." The project is slated to start shooting next month with Jesse Vaughan directing. "Mann" stars Miguel Nunez as a basketball star who is banned from the NBA when his on-court antics go too far. To get back in the game, he poses as a woman and tries out for the WNBA. Once accepted into the women's league, he must keep his identity a secret, even though he begins to fall in love with a teammate (Fox). According to The Hollywood Reporter, comedian Tommy Davidson and R&B singer Ginuwine have also been cast. Mark Wahlberg is in negotiations to star in "Criminal Conversation," as a young mob boss who falls in love with the wife of the D.A. trying to bring him down. At the same time, he has enlisted to join George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt, among others, in the Steven Soderbergh-directed "Ocean's 11." In "Conversation," an adaptation of the 1994 Evan Hunter novel, Wahlberg would play a gangster who has assumed control of the family business after his father is put away by a dogged lawyer in the district attorney's office. The project is expected to be in production this fall. According to Variety, Wahlberg's deal is still being negotiated. Drowning Ruth / Scream 4: Wes Craven has signed Mark Kruger ("Candyman II") to write the film adaptation of Christina Schwarz' upcoming novel "Drowning Ruth," which debuts in July. According to THR, Miramax bought the gothic novel - about sisters in 1930s Midwest - for Wes Craven Films earlier this month. "We loved his script 'Poe' for HBO," said Craven vp Alix Taylor. "This story is kind of a perfect combination of what Wes was looking to do. It's a good suspense story and emotional drama."
