Hannibal

Hannibal: The newly-opened official site included this advance poster (and also a teaser trailer). Thanks to 'Michael.'

Prozac Nation: Jessica Lange is in final negotiations to play Christina Ricci's mother in "Prozac Nation" for Millennium Films and Cinerenta. The film is slated to start shooting May 15 in Vancouver with Norwegian filmmaker Erik Skjoldbjærg ("Insomnia") at the helm. "Prozac," based on Elizabeth Wurtzel's 1997 memoir of the same name, revolves around a heavily medicated woman (Ricci) who lives life in the fast lane as a music critic but is always fighting her chronic depression. Jason Biggs, Anne Heche, Michelle Williams and Jonathan Rhys-Myers round out the cast. Frank Deasy wrote the most recent draft of the "Prozac" script.

Kingdom Come: Jada Pinkett Smith and Vivica A. Fox will join Whoopi Goldberg and LL Cool J in the Fox Searchlight Pictures comedy "Kingdom Come." Director Doug McHenry ("Jason's Lyric") is slated to start shooting the project this month. "Kingdom" will reteam Smith and Fox, who starred together in "Set It Off." Written by David Bottrell and Jesse Jones, "Kingdom" takes place during the course of three days and follows a family, headed by Goldberg whose members set aside their conflicts when they gather to bury their not-so-dearly departed patriarch. Smith will play the role of a nagging martyr who hates her husband, while Fox is cast as LL Cool J's high-strung wife.

The Panic Room: Call it the deal that would not die. On again, off again negotiations to place David Fincher ("Fight Club") at the helm of David Koepp's $4 million spec "The Panic Room" for Columbia seem close to yielding an agreement. Fincher, whose handlers at Creative Artists Agency started talks in mid-March, saw those discussions stall in early April over two main issues: final cut and a demand that Nicole Kidman star in the picture. The studio has now agreed to grant the director final cut on the picture - and insiders familiar with the project said Kidman is similarly close to a deal, but insiders also maintained that a few nettlesome deal points are unfinished. "Panic" concerns a struggle between a mother and her daughter to elude a pair of intruders.

Miss Congeniality: In her first feature film role in more than 15 years, "Murphy Brown" star Candice Bergen is set to join Sandra Bullock in "Miss Congeniality" for Castle Rock Entertainment and Village Roadshow Pictures. The project, to be released by Warner Bros., is slated to start shooting this week with Donald Petrie at the helm. The cast for "Congeniality" includes Michael Caine, Benjamin Bratt and William Shatner. The story revolves around an FBI agent (Bullock) who goes undercover as a beauty pageant contestant to thwart the efforts of a group threatening to bomb the event. Bergen will play the role of a former beauty pageant contestant who is now the pageant coordinator. The script for "Congeniality" was written by Marc Lawrence, Katie Ford and Caryn Lucas.

At a recent press conference, the director said "Steve [Zaillian] had a difficult task adapting the book. It's not easy condensing 600 pages into a script and still retaining the spirit." Scott went on to say that he, "enjoyed the book, but the ending was a big question for me…I couldn't quite accept it. Because Harris was open to suggestions, the ending has been changed. I think it's correct for the film but I'm not going to reveal what it is." It was also confirmed that both Ray Liotta and Gary Oldman have signed to the production.
