Posters: A teaser/promo for "The Others," a horror film starring Nicole Kidman, directed by Alejandro Amenábar ("Open Your Eyes"). A second advance poster for "Planet of the Apes," and an International one for "Tomb Raider." Thanks to Dani, eBay and Class Act Movie Posters.

Where the Wild Things Are: Screenwriter David Reynolds ("The Emperor's New Groove") has come aboard to write the big-screen adaptation of Maurice Sendak's popular children's short story "Where the Wild Things Are," about a little boy who uses his imagination to take him to a land of giant monsters where he is eventually made the king. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the CGI-heavy project is set up at Universal Pictures with Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman's Playtone Prods. producing, along with Sendak and John B. Carls of Wild Things Prods. The project does not yet have a start date.

Signs: In a likely eight-figure deal, Walt Disney Pictures has made a preemptive purchase of "Signs," another supernatural thriller from M. Night Shyamalan ("The Sixth Sense," "Unbreakable"). Variety reports that Shyamalan delivered the script on Saturday. Disney brass read it quickly, and came to terms with his agents and attorneys by early Sunday morning. "Signs" takes place in Shyamalan's home state of Pennsylvania. It revolves around the sudden appearance of a 500-foot array of circles and lines found mysteriously carved into the crops of a farm family in Bucks County. Shooting will begin in the fall.

Lena Olin

Darkness: Lena Olin is set to join the international cast of the English-language horror film "Darkness," which begins shooting Thursday in Barcelona for Spanish production outfit Filmax. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dimension Films will distribute in English-speaking territories, with Filmax handling all other distribution rights. "Darkness," to be directed by Jaume Balaguero, will feature Giancarlo Giannini ("Hannibal"), Iain Glen ("Tomb Raider") and Fele Martinez ("Lovers of the Arctic Circle"). Anna Paquin recently signed on to the project, which tells of the evil a family encounters in their home when they move to a new town. The script was written by Fernando de Felipe with Balaguero ("The Nameless").

Gemini Man: The Walt Disney Co. will pay a $1.75 million advance against an eventual payday of roughly $2.25 million for scribe Jonathan Hensleigh to reconceive the high-concept project "Gemini Man." From an original idea by Darren Lemke, who penned a draft of the script set 20 years in the future, "Gemini Man" centers on an older man who is hunted by his younger self. "I am preserving the kernel of the concept," Hensleigh told Variety, noting that his work will not rely at all on previous drafts. "But the basis of my story is that I am contemporizing it -- it's happening right now. "Gemini Man," continued an enthusiastic Hensleigh, "with its special effects elements, is simply the best action concept in Hollywood right now." Hensleigh's credits include "Die Hard With a Vengeance," "The Saint," "Jumanji" and "Jumanji II," as well as uncredited work on "The Rock," "Con Air" and "Gone in Sixty Seconds."

A.I.: A possible delay for Steven Spielberg's "A.I."? Thanks to FilmJerk.com for the following report:

"A source has informed us that the final FX schedule for AI is now running about 3 weeks behind schedule. They will be working double shifts this week to try to catch up, but failing this, Amblin may be forced to move the date of release since Mr. Spielberg rightfully will release no film before its time. We should know something certain sometime next week."

A new pic from Entertainment Weekly can be found here.

Shrek: Steven Spielberg & DreamWorks SKG Fansite caught a test screening of the 80% completed version of "Shrek" last month, and here is their review. Minor spoilers. Thanks to Jawad.
