Rush Hour 2 Rush Hour 2

Rush Hour 2: Advance posters for the action/comedy "Rush Hour 2," directed by Brett Ratner ("The Family Man," "Rush Hour"). Thanks to eBay.

Insomnia: Maura Tierney ("ER") will star as the love interest of Al Pacino's character in Warner Bros.' upcoming psychological thriller, "Insomnia." She joins the cast along with Martin Donovan, who will take the role of Pacino's police partner. Robin Williams, Nicky Katt and Hilary Swank are already attached. According to Variety, 'Insomnia' goes before cameras next week in Vancouver, with Christopher Nolan ("Memento") directing.

Anna Paquin

The Darkness: Spanish studio Filmax has enlisted Anna Paquin ("Almost Famous") to star in a drama titled "The Darkness," to be directed and penned by Jaume Balaguero ("Nameless"). Paquin will play a youth whose family has just moved into a remote house in the countryside. The family begins to disintegrate when the house's horrifying past reveals itself. The movie will be shot in Spain. According to Variety, Dimension Films is on board to distribute in English-speaking territories, while Filmax will handle distribution in the rest of the world.

Planet of the Apes - Review (Mixed/Positive)

Der Suss Duft Der Verzweiflung: Franka Potente ("Blow," "Run Lola Run") is in negotiations to star in writer-director Oskar Rohler's psychodrama "Der Suss Duft Der Verzweiflung" (The Sweet Smell of Despair) for Munich- and Berlin-based production company TeamWorx. According to THR, the production is scheduled to shoot in Germany and the Philippines starting in September. "Despair" is the story of a woman (Potente) who travels to Manila with her boyfriend but must return to Berlin after being haunted by traumatic childhood memories. TeamWorx's Schmidt Bauer is producing the film.

Enchanted: Susan Sarandon is in negotiations to star in the Walt Disney Co.'s live-action/animated feature "Enchanted" for director Jon Turteltaub ("The Kid"). David Hyde Pierce ("Frasier") is also in talks to co-star in "Enchanted," which is scheduled to go into production post-strike. Written by Bill Kelly with a rewrite by Rita Hsiao ("Mulan," "Toy Story 2"), "Enchanted" is a fairy tale about a young woman who falls in love with a prince and is banished to the real world of New York by an evil queen (Sarandon). Once there, she is followed by the prince and queen and must decide whether to return home. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pierce would portray Nathaniel, the queen's valet.

Robert De Niro

Love Me or Leave Me: Jennifer Lopez and Robert De Niro are in negotiations to star in and produce a remake of the 1955 Doris Day-James Cagney musical romance "Love Me or Leave Me" for Warner Bros. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Howard Gould is in talks to write the screenplay, which will be based loosely on the original MGM film. The updated version will be a romantic story and love triangle set in the musical world and will not be based, as was the original film, on the true story of 1930s torch singer Ruth Etting. There is no start date yet, and both actors are expected take on another film project before "LMoLM."

The Scorpion King: A look at Jonathan Hales and Stephen Sommers' "Scorpion King" script. Chuck Russell ("The Mask") will direct this film, with a cast that includes Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Michael Clarke Duncan and Kelly Hu. Some spoilers. Thanks to Johnny.

White Oleander: Alison Lohman has landed the coveted lead role of daughter to Michelle Pfeiffer's character in Warner Bros.' "White Oleander" for British helmer Peter Kosminsky. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project, to be produced by Hunt Lowry's Pandora and John Wells Prods., is scheduled to begin shooting in Los Angeles this month. Based on Janet Fitch's 1999 novel of the same name and adapted by Mary Agnes Donoghue, "Oleander" tells the contemporary story of a woman (Pfeiffer) imprisoned for life for the murder of her former lover and how her teenage daughter (Lohman) must navigate a new reality through a series of Los Angeles foster homes.
