The Plague Season: Ving Rhames will star with Kurt Russell in "The Plague Season," a Ron Shelton-directed drama originally written by novelist James Ellroy ("L.A. Confidential"). Variety reports that Russell and Rhames play L.A. cops on opposite sides in the investigation of a racially charged robbery homicide, which takes place in the days leading up to the L.A. riots that followed the acquittal of L.A. policemen on trial for the beating of motorist Rodney King. According to Variety, Lennix' role will pit him against Laurence Fishburne's character Morpheus. The Tailor of Panama - Film Review (Negative) Life or Something Like It: Mark Feuerstein ("What Women Want") is in negotiations to star in New Regency's romantic comedy "Life or Something Like It" for helmer Stephen Herek. Shooting is slated to start next month. Written by John Scott Shepherd, with a rewrite by Dana Stevens, "Life" is about reporter Lanie Kerrigan (Angelina Jolie) whose life seems meaningless until she comes across a homeless prophet who tells her that she has only one week to live. According to THR, Feuerstein would play Cal Cooper, her fiance and the St. Louis Cardinals' prize slugger. Ed Burns has been cast as Kerrigan's wisecracking colleague and eventual love interest Pete Scanlon.
Welcome to Collinwood: William H. Macy is in negotiations to join the ensemble cast of "Welcome to Collinwood." According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project, written and directed by Ohio-based filmmaking brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, is scheduled to start shooting early next month in Cleveland. The cast includes Isaiah Washington, Luis Guzman, Jennifer Esposito, Sam Rockwell and George Clooney. "Welcome" is described as being in the vein of "The Full Monty" and follows a group of working-class Cleveland men who attempt to rob a pawn shop. Macy would play Riley, a lovable ex-con who reluctantly joins the group in order to earn bail money for his jailed wife. Hart's War: A look at Billy Ray, Jeb Stuart and Terry George's "War" screenplay, dated September 29th, 2000. This WWII drama is currently filming in Prague under the direction of Gregory Hoblit ("Frequency"), and stars Colin Farrell, Terrence Howard, Marcel Iures, Vicellous Shannon, Jonathan Brandis, Cole Hauser, Rory Cochrane, and Bruce Willis. Angel Eyes: Poster for the Jennifer Lopez/James Caviezel drama "Angel Eyes," directed by Luis Mandoki ("Message in a Bottle"). Thanks to WB. Terminator 3: Jonathan Mostow ("Breakdown," "U-571") is negotiating to direct Arnold Schwarzenegger and Edward Furlong in "T3." Variety reports that Mostow had several strong meetings with Schwarzenegger and seems an inspired choice, although sources said final deal terms have to be ironed out. Someone Like You - Review (Mixed/Negative) The Scorpion King: Peter Facinelli ("The Big Kahuna") has been added to the cast of Universal Pictures' "The Scorpion King" for director Chuck Russell. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story centers on how the Scorpion King came to conquer Egypt. Facinelli will play Takmet, the evil son of the Warlord, whom the Scorpion King must defeat. Jim Jacks, Sean Daniel and Stephen Sommers are producing the feature, which the studio is eyeing as another franchise. The project is scheduled to start shooting Wednesday in Los Angeles. The Shipping News: Jason Behr ("Roswell") has joined Kevin Spacey, Cate Blanchett, Judi Dench, Rhys Ifans and Pete Postlethwaite in Miramax Films' "The Shipping News" for director Lasse Hallstrom. According to THR, the project is shooting in Halifax, Nova Scotia. "Shipping" tells the story of a newspaper reporter (Spacey) who moves with his young daughter, Bunny, to his ancestral home on the Newfoundland coast after his cheating wife is killed in a car accident. While in the quaint town, the reporter writes the shipping news for the local paper, the Gammy Bird, as he confronts his private demons and falls in love with a lonely single mother (Julianne Moore). Behr will play Dennis Buggit, a local carpenter battling his own demons and whose estranged father (Scott Glenn) owns the local newspaper.
