A Bug's Life - Above is a nice image from the upcoming Disney/Pixar movie "A Bug's Life." This movie will feature the voices of Kevin Spacey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bonnie Hunt, Denis Leary and Roddy McDowall just to name a few. Thanks to Jawad's Steven Spielberg Page for the image!
Superman Lives - Lots of different rumor have been floating around the last couple of days, I'm not sure what to think anymore, but here's what Variety reported yesterday: "Production on Warner Bros.' troubled Nicolas Cage-starring "Superman Lives" project has been delayed yet again, with July's start date scuttled until the script and budget achieve a necessary level of super-strength, the studio has confirmed."
True Crime - Sydney Poitier, the daughter of veteran actor Sidney Poitier, is in final talks to join the cast of Clint Eastwood's "True Crime.'' In addition to Eastwood, who also directs and produces the Warner Bros. project, the cast includes LisaGay Hamilton, Bernard Hill, Michael Jeter, Diane Venora, Isaiah Washington and James Woods. Eastwood plays a journalist who races the clock to free a convicted killer (Washington) on death row.
Movie Trailers - A few new trailers today, one for the upcoming Sandra Bullock comedy "Hope Floats", one for the DreamWork kiddie flick "Paulie" and one for the movie "Sour Grapes."
Forces of Nature - Maura Tierney ("Liar, Liar") is in final talks to star in "Forces of Nature," a love triangle comedy also starring Ben Affleck and Sandra Bullock. Affleck plays a New Yorker traveling to distant city to marry his fiancee (Tierney). En route, he's sidetracked by various forces of nature, including a hurricane and a female traveler (Bullock). Bronwen Hughes ("Harriet the Spy") directs from a script by Marc Lawrence. Shooting starts in June on the East Coast.
The Wild, Wild West - Musetta Vander, last seen as Queen Sindel in New Line Cinema's turkey "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation," has joined the cast of "The Wild, Wild West." The Warner Bros. film stars Will Smith and Kevin Kline, and is inspired by the hit TV series of the 1960s. Vander will play the henchwoman of the villain, Kenneth Branagh. Salma Hayek also stars.

Quest for Camelot - If you are interested in animated features, be sure to check out the site above. The Quest For Camelot is Warner Bros.'s first fully animated feature film.
Very Bad Things - Variety reports that Peter Berg's blood-soaked indie black comedy "Very Bad Things" has become the subject of intense industry buzz and high-stakes bidding the likes of which is rarely seen outside the pressurized world of film festivals. MGM and Polygram are among the studios that reportedly have stepped up with multimillion-dollar offers for the picture, which stars Christian Slater, Cameron Diaz, Daniel Stern and Jon Favreau.
Deep Impact - The new trailer for this upcoming DreamWorks movie is finally available in two different formats. High and low resolution Quicktime trailers, and a small Vivo player file.
Twenty Billion - A week after he struck a deal to co-write and star in a screen version of the Saturday Night Live skit "Sprockets" at Universal, Mike Myers has dropped out of Paramount's "Twenty Billion." The film, which is directed by Michael Tolkin, was to be Myers' next acting assignment, following roles in Miramax's nightclub drama "54" and the Irish picture "The Meteor." Sources speculate that Myers could fill the spot on his calendar with the sequel to "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery." Myers and Michael McCullers recently completed the screenplay for the sequel.

Anywhere but Here - Natalie Portman is set to join Susan Sarandon in "Anywhere but Here." Wayne Wang will direct the Fox project, working from Oscar-winning scribe Alvin Sargent's ("Ordinary People") adaptation of the Mona Simpson novel. Sarandon and Portman star as a mother and daughter who leave their family and friends behind in Bay City, Mich., to start life over in Beverly Hills. The drama revolves around the culture shock the pair encounter, as the protective and eccentric mom tries to help the beautiful young daughter navigate high school

Vanilla Fog - Variety reports that Arnon Milchan's New Regency Prods. has greenlit "Vanilla Fog," the first pic to be distributed under its new financing and production deal at 20th Century Fox, which begins June 1. Sean Patrick Flanery has signed to star opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar in the romantic comedy, which marks the directorial debut of producer Mark Tarlov.
True Crime - Isaiah Washington ("Bulworth") is set to co-star in the Clint Eastwood-helmed adaptation of Andrew Klavan's novel "True Crime" at Warner Bros. Washington is set to play the pivotal role of Frank Beachum, a death-row convict whom a journalist, played by Eastwood, is attempting to free as his scheduled execution ticks closer.

Office Space - With her latest film for the studio opening this week, 20th Century Fox is in final negotiations with Jennifer Aniston to take the female lead in Mike Judge's "Office Space." Aniston would play a waitress whose boyfriend (Ron Livingston) and his cronies wage a battle of corporate politics at a software company.
All the Pretty Horses - Matt Damon has struck a deal to mount the Columbia Pictures/Miramax Films co-production "All the Pretty Horses," the Billy Bob Thornton-directed adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel, the companies confirmed Tuesday. The deal will pay the recent Oscar-winner more than $5 million -- the biggest payday of his young career.
Dancing About Architecture - In what is shaping up as a "Cop Land" caliber ensemble, Miramax is in final talks with Sean Connery, Dylan McDermott, Dennis Quaid, Ellen Burstyn and Ryan Phillippe to join Madeleine Stowe, Angelina Jolie, Gillian Anderson and Gena Rowlands in "Dancing About Architecture," a drama about life in Los Angeles from writer/director Willard Carroll.
Goodbye, Lover - The ranks of Hollywood studio pictures in the Cannes Film Festival have been bolstered by the addition of Roland Joffe's comic thriller "Goodbye, Lover," a Warner Bros. release from Regency Enterprises that will be screened as part of the official competition. The film about an insurance fraud scheme stars Patricia Arquette, Dermot Mulroney, Ellen DeGeneres, Mary-Louise Parker and Don Johnson.

Movie Posters - Another bunch of hot movie posters today :-) First off, the Official poster for the upcoming film "The Avengers," a poster for the new Patrick Swayze flick "Black Dog" and finally three very similar-looking posters for the films "Hope Floats" (Sandra Bullock), "The Object Of My Affection" (Jennifer Aniston) and "No Looking Back" (Lauren Holly.) I Still Know What You Did Last Summer - Variety reports that Laura Esposito, a series regular on the Alphabet web's DreamWorks sitcom "Spin City," has joined the ensemble cast of Mandalay's horror sequel to "I Know What You Did Last Summer." Esposito will star opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt, who reprises her role from the first pic. The new film is set for a Thanksgiving release.
Movie Trailers - A few new trailers today, including the second "Mulan" trailer, a trailer for the upcoming Jada Pinkett Smith movie "Woo" and finally a trailer for the Steve Martin starrer "The Spanish Prisoner."
Existenz - Ian Holm and Willem Dafoe have joined the cast of the supernatural thriller "Existenz," the latest pic from Canadian auteur David Cronenberg. The movie, which stars Jennifer Jason Leigh as an obsessive computer game creator and Jude Law as a security guard who becomes drawn into her bizarre world, began lensing in Toronto last week.
Ghost Riders in the Sky - In the latest case of a studio applying the brakes to a big-budget event picture, Fox 2000 has put a hold on Jan De Bont's $100 million-plus event pic "Ghost Riders in the Sky," the studio said. The film had been scheduled for a mid-July production start. A Fox spokeswoman said there is no new start date at this time.
World War II Project - After a 40-year wait, Universal Pictures has finally set up a film based on the remarkable, adventurous life of Lou Zamperini with Nicolas Cage attached to star and produce along with Brillstein-Grey. The stranger-than-fiction story follows Zamperini's path from a track star at USC and his appearance in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, to an Air Force stint during World War II when he became a prisoner of war.
Marjorie Morningstar - Steering toward a role originally played by Gene Kelly, Al Pacino is attached to star in a remake of the 1958 Warner Bros. feature "Marjorie Morningstar" for Castle Rock Entertainment. Pacino, who brought Castle Rock the project based on Herman Wouk's bestselling novel, also will produce the film. A writer has not yet been hired.
Sad Note - The excellent movie site The Buzzstation closed down today. I'm not sure if it's just for a while or forever. Will, if you're reading this, I hope you one day will find the time to re-open The Buzzstation, we will all miss your wonderful site!
