Godzilla

Godzilla - An advert of some kind, pretty cool actually, shows Godzilla's eye over a town (N.Y., perhaps?) Thanks to Jawad's Steven Spielberg Page for the image.

Lord Of The Rings - "Screamer" sent in this interesting scoop about the long awaited movie "Lord Of The Rings." Thanks again to "Screamer"!

Hi I'm a regular visitor to this site and was delighted to be able to submit this report from New Zealand where I work for a film studio. About one month ago Sean Connery visited NZ and met with Peter Jackson about the on again off again "Lord Of The Rings". At this time we don't have a set shooting schedule but I have also been commissioned to draw basic interior designs of caves and houses as well as "mystic" and "medieval" fauna and wildlife. I know that other people in my company are doing similar jobs but none of us have been given deadlines.

Eyes Wide Shut - In a statement released by director Stanley Kubrick, the filmmaker stated: "Because of schedule conflicts, Jennifer Jason Leigh, currently filming in Canada with David Cronenberg, will be unavailable to do a few days of shooting on the cameo scene she played with Tom Cruise in 'Eyes Wide Shut.' The role will now be played by Marie Richardson, one of Ingmar Bergman's leading actresses.''

Halloween H20 - The Official Halloween Site reports that the teaser trailer for "Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later" (the full title, I think) is now playing in theaters across America as part of the Scream 2 re-release. Also, Jamie Lee Curtis reported to USA Today that the film's catchphrase is: "Blood is thicker than water."

The Best Man - David Ward, scribe of "The Sting," has signed to write and direct Interscope Communications' "The Best Man." The picture, which has Nathan Lane attached to star, is a romantic comedy about a mental patient who escapes from an institution in order to be the best man at the wedding of a childhood friend.

Editors Note - An early update today, since I'm soon off to see a movie with some friends. The response to the "Submit Scoop" page have been great - thanks! Hopefully I'll add a few more stories tonight or tomorrow, see you all then!

April 22nd 1998 - Movie News/Rumours

Tales From the Crypt - Variety reports that Miramax's Dimension Films banner is plotting to unearth the theatrical fortunes of the cult HBO horror series "Tales From the Crypt." Universal Pictures distributed the two previous "Crypt" films: 1995's "Demon Knight," which grossed $21 million domestically, and "Bordello of Blood," which took in only $6 million a year later. The five owners of the "Crypt" franchise -- Joel Silver, Richard Donner, Robert Zemeckis, Walter Hill and David Giler -- are keen to get another movie into theaters. "We have a deal with Dimension," said a source close to the quintet, "and now we have to figure out what (project) to do. This is a strong franchise, and we believe that we have matched it with the most successful distributor of slasher and horror movies."

. Dead Man On Campus - The Official Site for this upcoming MTV flick recently opened. Click on the image to check it out. This movie has had some really bad word-of-mouth, so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out!

Toby's Story - Jonathan Pryce ("Tomorrow Never Dies") will join Patricia Arquette and Gabriel Byrne in the upcoming MGM thriller "Toby's Story." In the film, Pryce plays a Vatican official who sends a priest (Byrne) to investigate assaults on a young woman (Arquette). Nia Long ("Soul Food"), Patrick Muldoon ("Starship Troopers") and Portia De Rossi also star.

Windows 98 - This isn't really movie related, but still a funny clip from the famous "Windows 98 Crash" which recently took place. You can download the clip from this location. Thanks to Movie-List for hosting it!

Oliver Stone Project - After taking on subjects like Vietnam, Wall Street, the media and the Kennedy assassination, Oliver Stone is now going to delve into the sports world. He's lining up Dennis Quaid to play a star quarterback on the downside of his career while Al Pacino plays the coach and rapper Sean "Puffy" Combs is the up-and-coming quarterback. Variety reports that Stone also is huddling with such actors as Edward Burns, David Duchovny, James Woods, Cameron Diaz and Ving Rhames.

Star Wars: Prequel One - 'Glenn' had the privilege of meeting actor Jeremy Bulloch (who played 'Boba Fett' in "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return Of The Jedi.") He told him that George Lucas is interested in bringing back his character in episodes two and three and giving some more depth to it, after all the character of 'Boba Fett' is one of the most popular from the original trilogy, yet he was only on screen for about 15 minutes. The Corruptor - Jawad managed to sneak a peak at the filming of this upcoming New Line film which stars Mark Wahlberg and Chow Yun-Fat. Here's what happened:

Last week, I was walking to the train station from school in downtown in Toronto and I saw a shooting of a movie. These days there are lot of movie shootings going on in Toronto downtown area and my university. Anyways, it was The Corruptor. The scene was something like this.

A guy with a gun standing on a Ford Taurus which front glass was broken in half and the car was towed to a tow truck. The tow truck was moving slowly and the guy standing on the car's stood kept on firing inside. I never saw anyone inside the car but may be they were hidden. This one shot took about one hour. At the end, the guy standing on the car fell off and it was a cut.

Superman Lives - Warner Bros.' Official statement about this project can be read right here.

Box Office - Warner Bros.' "City of Angels" alighted atop the box office chart for a second consecutive weekend, watching over a studio-estimated $13 million take. The Nicolas Cage-Meg Ryan romance slipped only 15% from its opening a week earlier. Entering the market in second place, with $10 million, was 20th Century Fox's Jennifer Aniston-Paul Rudd starrer "The Object of My Affection." The Nicholas Hytner-helmed comedy, about a straight woman who falls for her gay male friend, averaged a solid $5,297 per encounter.
