The Matrix 2: Cinescape reports that according to Hollywood Reporter columnist Martin Grove, producer Joel Silver is now saying, "The guys have said to me that the story does continue. They didn't really want to deal with it unless there was a reason to think about it. Well, I think they're going to think about it." Tunnel: The Movie The End of Eternity: Paramount Pictures has picked up "The End of Eternity," a project based on the book of the same name by sci-fi author Isaac Asimov as a vehicle for Ridley Scott to direct. The project will be a co-production between Scott Free Prods. and Wind Dancer Films. In the time-travel love story, the ruling class of the future, known as the Eternals, have the power of life and death over humans and time by being able to create or destroy the past, present and future. The novel centers on an Eternal named Andrew Harlan who makes the mistake of falling in love with a non-Eternal. Since Eternals are not allowed to have feelings, Andrew keeps his love a secret and begins to plan their escape by changing time in the couples' favor. Gary Goldman ("Total Recall") is adapting the 1955 book, which is out of print, accoring to the Hollywood Reporter.
Movie Posters: A poster for the upcoming Reese Witherspoon/Josh Brolin starrer "Best Laid Plans." Also a poster for "The Thomas Crown Affair," which stars Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. Finally an "Instinct" poster. This film is directed by Jon Turteltaub, and stars Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding Jr. Thanks to The MovieGarden for the second poster image! Bounce: EW reports that Ben Affleck ("Armageddon") and Gwyneth Paltrow ("Shakespeare In Love") will costar in writer/director Don Roos' ("The Opposite of Sex") new film, "Bounce." Their characters fall in love in a complicated plot that involves an airline crash that kills Paltrow's character's husband. You Can Count on Me: Matthew Broderick will star in the low-budget indie "You Can Count on Me," the directorial de-but of "Analyze This" co-author Kenneth Lonergan. The film follows a single mother as she struggles with a young son, a redneck younger brother and an obnoxious boss (Broderick). Shooting is slated to begin in May in upstate New York. John Hart and Jeff Sharp's Hart Sharp Entertainment will produce, THR reports. Dreamland: Leonardo DiCaprio's Birken Prods. banner has optioned Kevin Baker's "Dreamland," a sweeping historical novel set in turn-of-the-century New York. HarperCollins published the novel last month to glowing reviews. The story follows Kid Twist, an Eastern European immigrant who arrives in New York as a stowaway on the same ship as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, who have come to the city to plug psychoanalysis. In New York, Kid Twist falls in love with Esther Abramowitz, a poor seamstress turned labor organizer, according to THR. I Now Pronounce You Joe and Benny: Tom Shadyac is planning to direct the project I Now Pronounce You Joe and Benny, a comedy about two heterosexual firefighters who marry for insurance benefits. Nicolas Cage and Will Smith seem game to play the same-sex couple in the pic, which is being developed under Shadyacs Shady Acres Entertainment banner. The script was written by Barry Fanaro (Kingpin). Cage is being courted to play a widower worried about what will happen to his two children if he dies. After he saves the life of his friend (Smith), a slick-talking ladies man, the grateful pal vows to do anything to repay him. The request? Marry him. Full Story >>>
Lost & Found: The poster for "Lost & Found," which is a film about a successful Bostonian who goes off on occasional drink binges which leads him into meeting a cute zoologist and her whiny roommate at a summer cottage. This film is starring Jon Lovitz David Spade and Sophie Marceau. It will open April 23rd. Beautiful View: Jennifer Jason Leigh will soon be starring in ''Beautiful View,'' a suspense thriller written and directed by her mother, Barbara Turner. Turner wrote the new script specifically for her daughter. "Beautiful View'' spins the tale of an enigmatic chambermaid in a fancy northern California hotel who puts herself in danger when she becomes obsessed with one of the hotel's guests. Shooting is expected to begin in late fall at an inn on the Pacific Coast, Variety reports. Seed of Chucky: 'Kendra' has sent along a lot of information on this upcoming sequel to last years film "The Bride of Chucky." A lot of spoilers included. Thanks again to 'Kendra.' The Replacements: Howard Deutch ("Grumpier Old Men") is in negotiations to direct Warner Bros.' "The Replacements" with Keanu Reeves to star. The film, produced by former 20th Century Fox executive Dylan Sellers and written by Vince McKewin, is based on the true story of the events surrounding the 1987 National Football League players' strike. The story centers on the Washington Redskins' motley band of replacements during the strike, who went on to win a string of stellar victories. Shooting is expected to kick off in late summer.
American Pie: A poster for the film "American Pie," which is a comedy about a group of friends who at the end of their senior year make a pact to lose their virginity by prom night. In their outrageous attempts to fulfill this mission, they come to some surprising, hilarious and often touching realizations about themselves, their friendships, their notions of love, romance and their relations with the opposite sex. This film will be released May 28th in the US, read more about it at the official site. Carnivore: Larry and Andy Wachowski ("The Matrix") are in final negotiations to team with "Dawn of the Dead" director George Romero on the production of Wachowski script "Carnivore" for Trimark Pictures. The Wachowski brothers will serve as executive producers on "Carnivore," a surreal, gothic fairy tale set in a boarding house where rich people disappear under mysterious circumstances. "Carnivore" is an early Wachowski screenplay that led to the assignment to write "Assassins" for producer Joel Silver, THR reports. Battlefield Earth: Barry Pepper ("Saving Private Ryan") is in final negotiations to star opposite John Travolta in "Battlefield Earth." Directed by Roger Christian, the $80 million-budgeted "Battlefield" is a sci-fi action-adventure tale set in 3000 A.D., when humans have become an endangered species under the ruthless rule of an alien race. Pepper will portray Jonnie, a hero who conquers the dark forces harnessed by bad-guy Travolta and goes on to save the planet. Financed by Elie Samaha's Franchise Films and slated for domestic release through Warner Bros., "Battlefield" will be produced by Travolta, Samaha and Jonathan Krane, according to THR. Monkey Bone: Chris Kattan and Bridget Fonda are in final negotiations to star opposite Brendan Fraser and Whoopi Goldberg in Fox Animation Studios' live-action/stop-motion action picture "Monkey Bone." In "Monkey," a cartoonist (Fraser) falls into a coma after a car crash and, though he appears to recover, only his girlfriend Jane (Fonda) realizes that he has been possessed by the spirit of one his obnoxious cartoon characters, Monkey Bone. While the cartoonist suffers through the nether world of Dark Town, where he's chased by Death (Goldberg), Jane must find a way to bring the man she loves back to life. Untitled Allen Comedy: Michael Rapaport ("Copland") has been cast in Woody Allen's new film due to start shooting in New York this summer. Allen is the only other actor set for the movie, which he is also writing and directing. No other information was available about the picture; as usual, Allen is keeping the film under warps, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Matrix earned about $27.6 million for the Friday-to-Sunday period, according to studio estimates, breaking several records in the process. Since its Wednesday release, designed to capitalize on the Easter holiday, the Warner Bros. film has pulled in about $37.2 million. More Info >>> The Hollow Man: Josh Brolin ("Mimic") is in final negotiations to co-star in Columbia Pictures' "The Hollow Man," opposite Kevin Bacon and Elisabeth Shue. "Hollow Man" is a drama about a group of scientists who find a way to make people invisible. Paul Verhoeven directs, from a script by William Goldman and Andrew Marlowe. Douglas Wick and Alan Marshall produce. The Blair Witch Project: A review for this very disturbing-looking horror film which have gotten a lot of buzz lately. Quite a few spoilers are included for those who don't feel like knowing too much about this movie: The Blair Witch Project - A Film Review (Positive) Squelch: John Dahl ("The Last Seduction") is set to make New Regency Prods.' thriller "Squelch." Shooting is expected to get under way in August. Dahl will start casting the picture based on a screenplay by Clay Tarver and J.J. Abrams. The project was initially developed under executive vp Sanford Panitch at 20th Century Fox and was intended as a directing vehicle for Abrams ("Regarding Henry"). But that was stymied by Abrams' commitment to his TV series "Felicity." When Regency became passionate about the film, Fox allowed Regency to make it through its deal with the studio, THR reports. Spider-Man: After years of pursuing "Spider-Man" as one of his dream projects, James Cameron is no longer involved with the project in development at Columbia Pictures, sources confirmed. But with or without Cameron, who has yet to commit to his next directorial effort, "Spider-Man" is moving full steam ahead. Columbia has hired top screenwriter David Koepp to craft a script, drawing in part on a treatment by the "Titanic" director. With Cameron exiting the film, there is no news on who will direct "Spider-Man," but the big-budget venture is drawing interest from several top helmers.
