A nice advance poster for the Robin Williams sci-fi film "Bicentennial Man," and also one for the the Susan Sarandon/Natalie Portman drama "Anywhere But Here," about a mother and daughter's search for success in Beverly Hills. Dr. T and the Women: Tara Reid ("American Pie") is set to join Richard Gere and Helen Hunt in "Dr. T and the Women," the new film from director Robert Altman. Reid will play one of Gere's daughters in the movie about a gynecologist's midlife crisis. Shooting starts in November. The special effects are used when having wide shots of the english and their defense posts. It does look real though I saw it was CGI. But a good job it was indeed. Another thing about the movie are the battles between the french army the english army. They are SPR-like and are very violent, though I enjoyed watching them since they looked so very real. Dirty 30: John Woo ("Face/Off") will direct the New Line Cinema suspense thriller "Dirty 30." Former New York cop Angela Amato (co-author of the 1998 police novel "Lady Gold") is writing the script based on experiences she observed on the force. The story centers on an Irish-American cop who leaves the NYPD for two years only to return after his estranged brother, a member of the Irish gang the Westies, is accused of killing a rookie officer. American Beauty: An advance poster for the Kevin Spacey/Annette Bening starrer 'American Beauty.' Thanks to the IMDB and DreamWorks SKG Fansite-American Beauty. X-Men: 20th Century Fox has pushed up the release date of "X-Men" to July 2000 from a year-end slot. Director Bryan Singer begins production this October in Toronto, according to Variety. The Perfect Storm: Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio ("The Abyss") will co-star with George Clooney in "The Perfect Storm." Joan of Arc Special Effects - Not much has been said about special effects for this film but a French Effects company called Duboi has had their hand in part of the post production for JOA. It is not known at this time what they did for the film but I am sure it will be amazing. These were the same guys who did SFX for the film Alien IV! Lord of the Rings: TheOneRing.net reports that according to The Evening Post, Hollywood couple Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke are tipped to be part of Lord of the Rings as Galadrial and Faramir. Filming is expected to start in two months. US media are reporting that one of the main roles, that of Aragorn, has been given to 26 year old Irish actor Stuart Townsend who starred in Shooting Fish. Thanks to 'Xoanon.' Shaft: Rapper Busta Rhymes is set to star in Paramount's remake of the 1971 blaxploitation film "Shaft." Starring opposite Samuel L. Jackson, Rhymes will play Shaft's sidekick Rasaan in the John Singleton-directed film. The character was created for the updated "Shaft," which is anticipating a September start date. Scott Rudin and Singleton are producing, while Paul Hall and Adam Schroeder are executive producing the project. Acclaimed novelist-screenwriter Richard Price ("Clockers") wrote the last draft of the script, THR reports. Scooby-Doo: Writer James Gunn (who most recently did a rewrite on Warner Bros.' "Spy vs. Spy" for Jay Roach to direct) has been tapped to write the studio's "Scooby-Doo" for producer Chuck Roven. Last year, Mike Myers and his writing partner Jay Kogan penned an unsuccessful draft before withdrawing from the project. Sources said Gunn's version will be a comedy-horror in the vein of "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" and "Ghostbusters" where Scooby will be called upon to save the world, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jakob The Liar: The official poster for the drama "Jakob the Liar," about the poor café owner Jakob (Robin Williams), who accidentally overhears a forbidden radio news bulletin signaling Soviet military successes against German forces during WWII. Hannibal: Popcorn.co.uk just ran an audio interview with Tim Roth in which he claims not to have been approached to play Dr. Lecter in 'Hannibal,' and makes it clear he would never take the part. The project centers on a wild frat party that takes a darkly comedic turn when the coeds are set upon by zombies. Greg Silverman ("10 Things I Hate About You") will produce, THR reports. Three Kings: The official site has released another trailer for this upcoming George Clooney/Mark Wahlberg/Ice Cube starrer.
The Legend of Bagger Vance: Will Smith is negotiating to star in ''Legend of Bagger Vance'' for director/producer Robert Redford. The period drama is the story of Rannulph Junah, a war hero and local golfer from Georgia, who manages to compete against the nation's top pros while receiving advice and guidance from a black caddie. The movie will hopefully start shooting in Savannah this October. Thanks to 'Lazarus.' Ready to Rumble: Variety reports that Oliver Platt ("Bulworth") will play the deposed champion of the WCW grappling circuit, and Scott Caan will join David Arquette as the tag team hellbent on helping the wrestler regain his title in "Ready to Rumble," a Warner Bros. comedy that begins shooting this fall. Director Brian Robbins ("Varsity Blues") pinned down Arquette for the first casting of a film that will exploit the synergy between the Time Warner-owned Warner Bros. and the WCW.
The Patriot: Jason Isaacs ("Armageddon") is joining Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger in Columbia's "The Patriot" for director Roland Emmerich. In the Revolutionary War pic from Mutual Film Co. and Centropolis Entertainment, Isaacs will play the head of the Green Dragoons, the most deadly branch of the British fighting forces. His brutal assault against an American family provokes a father and son (Gibson and Ledger) to join the fight. "Patriot" will hit theaters next summer, according to Variety. Thirteen Days: Bruce Greenwood ("The Sweet Hereafter") has been cast in the Beacon/New Line film "Thirteen Days." He will play JFK in the Kevin Costner-starrer set during the 1962 Cuban missile crisis. Roger Donaldson directs. Lord of the Rings: TheOneRing.net have gotten their hands on some more info for the 'Lord of the Rings' script, as well as an interview with John Race, chief designer of 'Orcs: Revenge of the ancients.' Shaft: Variety reports that Jennifer Esposito ("I Still Know") is reteaming with her "Summer of Sam" co-star John Leguizamo and Samuel L. Jackson in Paramount's remake of the '70s classic, "Shaft." Esposito is set to play a woman who goes into hiding after witnessing a murder. John Singleton directs the pic that will begin shooting in New York next month. The 51st State: Ronny Yu will direct Samuel L. Jackson in the action-comedy "51st State." The Hong Kong director came to Hollywood attention with last year's excellent horror hit "Bride of Chucky." In "State," Jackson plays an American master chemist and streetwise entrepreneur who heads to England with the aim of setting up one last drug deal. But what he thought would be straightforward becomes complicated as he gets caught in a web of double-crossing and inept swindlers while an anti-American local hitman escorts him around Liverpool. More Info >>> Minority Report: Steven Spielberg's "Minority Report" will now start production in January, three months later than originally planned for the DreamWorks/20th Century Fox co-production. The "Minority" delay will have a ripple effect on other studios, most notably Columbia Pictures, where Spielberg was planning to start shooting "Memoirs of a Geisha" in early 2000. A DreamWorks rep said Spielberg is firmly committed to "Geisha," whose production start has already been delayed once before, when the director decided to make "Minority" first.
