Rat Race: Jerry Zucker ("Ghost") is in final negotiations to direct "Rat Race." The ensemble road comedy follows a group of participants in a race from Las Vegas to New Mexico. There are no rules, and the winner gets $2 million. The film will be reminiscent of "Cannonball Run'' and "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.'' TBWP

The Blair Witch Project II: 'TBWP' is poised to deliver a lucrative franchise to the upstart indie distributor. Its creators plan to meet Monday with Artisan for preliminary discussions about a follow-up that has been targeted for release next summer. Writer-directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez have outlined at least four potential story lines, including two prequels. One would explore the ancient Blair Witch legend, and another would recount the legend of a 1940s serial killer who murdered seven children (and is mentioned in the original film), THR reports.

The Mummy 2: Last night, Popcorn.co.uk spoke to Brendan Fraser who he said he was "looking forward to the possibility" of a sequel to 'The Mummy.' They have the quotes in Real Audio to download. Find out more about this right here. Thanks to 'Peter.'

In the Weeds: Joshua Leonard ("The Blair Witch Project") is in final negotiations to star in indie feature "In the Weeds" and will then segue to his first studio feature, Fox 2000's "Navy Divers" starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Robert De Niro. "Weeds," a romantic comedy from first-time writer-director Michael Rauch, will shoot this month in New York. The film follows a group of waiters in a SoHo bistro during one shift. The wait staff -- artists and students -- flirt and argue while managing concerns about career, finances and relationships. Chaos is barely controlled through the dinner shift as a prospective buyer is courted, relationships are forged and torn apart, someone quits, another gets fired, a third is thrown out and two people fall in love.

Bay of Pigs: The duo of Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are teaming to produce, with Howard possibly directing, "Bay of Pigs," an epic war drama based on the unsuccessful U.S.-backed invasion of Cuba in 1961. Shane Salerno is writing the script, which is based on an idea by Salerno and Todd Hallowell. A draft of "Bay" is expected in about two months. "I've always had an awareness of what happened at Bay of Pigs but, like most people, didn't know the political and strategic intricacies of the circumstances or the effects it had on our history," Grazer said. "Working on this project will be both entertaining and enlightening." Hallowell brought "Bay" to Imagine and will also receive producing credit, THR reports.
