The Messenger: TSoJoA - Film Review (Positive) Dr. T and the Women: Kate Hudson ("200 Cigarettes") has signed on to star opposite Richard Gere and Helen Hunt in Robert Altman's romantic comedy "Dr. T and the Women." Shooting begins Nov. 15 on location in Texas. In the story of a gynecologist (Gere) in the throes of a midlife crisis and the women in his life, Hudson will star as one of Gere's daughters, a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader who is planning her wedding. Liv Tyler and Tara Reid will play Gere's other daughters in the story. "Dr. T" is written by Anne Rapp, according to THR. Matrix 2-3: Variety recently reported that Keanu Reeves is close to a deal with Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures for two "Matrix" sequels, which will pay him a combined $30 million against 15% of the gross. The actor and writer-directors Larry and Andy Wachowski are set to begin a 250-day production schedule in fall 2000 that will encompass two back-to-back sequels. The Wachowskis recently completed a deal to continue the sci-fi series theyd always envisioned as a three-pic storyline. The Wachowskis originally figured to film a prequel followed by a sequel, but the plan now is to do two sequels instead. Laurence Fishburne and Carrie-Anne Moss will most like reprise their roles. Poll: The results of the recent "Halloween: H2K" poll can be found at this location.
Movie Posters: A poster for "Chill Factor," a thriller about two men (Skeet Ulrich and Cuba Gooding Jr.) transporting an extremely poisonous substance that will cause widespread contamination if it's allowed to warm higher than 50 degrees. A poster for the Tommy Lee Jones/Ashley Judd thriller "Double Jeorardy" and an advance for "Mission to Mars." True Lies 2: Jeffrey Eastin ("Inconvenienced") will draft a script for "True Lies 2," under the supervision of James Cameron. The director has canvassed many writers for possible takes for the sequel. No talent deals are set, though all parties are said to be receptive to working together again. Thanks to 'Chris.' The Weight of Water: Variety reports that Elizabeth Hurley ("EDtv") and Vinessa Shaw ("Eyes Wide Shut") are joining Sean Penn and Sarah Polley in "The Weight of Water'' for director Kathryn Bigelow. Based on the bestselling novel by Anita Shreve, the $16 million picture centers on two couples on a boat trip to a Scandinavian island. One member of the group is a journalist investigating a murder that took place a century earlier. The Lord of the Rings: Christopher Lee is in final talks to co-star as Saruman in New Line Cinema's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's trilogy, "The Lord of the Rings." There's also a rumor going around that Tolkien's own grandson, Simon, and possibly his great grandson are to appear in the film. Simon Tolkien has supposedly been in negotiations with the director and New Line for some time, and is the only Tolkien family member to offer any structural guidance and support for the films. Thanks to Xoanon. What Women Want: Mel Gibson ("Lethal Weapon 4") has committed to star in "What Women Want," an offbeat romantic comedy being directed by Nancy Meyers ("The Parent Trap") at Paramount Pictures. While his deal still has to be firmed, Gibson has slotted the picture as his follow-up to "The Patriot" at Sony. In "Women,'' Gibson will portray a chauvinistic executive who, after an accident, acquires the ability to hear what every woman he meets is really thinking. Paramount is interested in Helen Hunt and Tea Leoni for the lead female roles, but no offers have been made. Thanks to 'Chris.' More Info >>>
