The Legend of Bagger Vance: Variety reports that Charlize Theron ("Mighty Joe Young") is in negotiations to play the female lead in "The Legend of Bagger Vance," a golf flick Robert Redford will direct this fall. Theron would play the organizer of a golf tournament that provides a chance for redemption for a champion golfer poised for greatness until he became a soldier in WWI and was devastated by the conflict. Played by Matt Damon, the golfer/soldier is the girl's former lover, and they rekindle the relationship as he succeeds in the tournament with the help of a mysterious caddie (Will Smith). Being John Malkovich: The official site has released a trailer for this upcoming flick starring John Cusack as a puppeteer who discovers a door in his office that allows him to enter the mind and life of John Malkovich for 15 minutes. The film also stars Cameron Diaz, Catherine Keener and John Malkovich.
Miss Congeniality: Sandra Bullock will star in the comedy "Miss Congeniality," about an FBI agent who, following in her heroic mother's footsteps, goes undercover as Miss New Jersey in a national beauty pageant. However, things get serious when the agent has to thwart the efforts of a group that threatens to bomb the event. No director is attached yet, according to Variety.
Movie Posters: Posters for two upcoming thrillers today. First one for the Winona Ryder/Ben Chaplin thriller "Lost Souls," and one for David Koepp's "Stir of Echoes," starring Kevin Bacon. Taxi Dog: Robin Williams is attached to star in and produce "Taxi Dog," which is based on a series of picture books written by Debra and Sal Barracca for Dial Press. Set amid the street life of New York City, it tells the story of how a mean street dog and a mean cab driver are forced by bizarre circumstances into a reluctant partnership. No director is attached yet, Variety reports. Seven Men From Now: Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed to develop "Seven Men From Now," a contemporary remake of the 1956 western that starred Randolph Scott as a sheriff seeking revenge when his wife is killed by bandits. Schwarzenegger will play a man forced to come to terms with the darker side of his soul when he witnesses the horrific murder of his wife. He undertakes the manhunt only to find he's the unwitting prey in a larger conspiracy. Paul Schrader wrote the script, which is being developed by Michael Pavone. Thanks to Lazarus. Happy Campers: Emily Bergl ("The Rage: Carrie 2") has joined the cast of New Line Cinema's "Happy Campers" opposite Brad Renfro and Dominique Swain. Production on the film begins next month on location in North Carolina. "Campers," written and directed by Daniel Waters, tells the story of a group of college freshmen who spend their summer as camp counselors and take it upon themselves to spice up things for their impressionable young charges. Bergl will co-star as one of the counselors. Denise Di Novi produces the project with David Rubin, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
