Movie Posters: A poster for the upcoming Sandra Bullock/Nicole Kidman starrer "Practical Magic" and one for the Adam Sandler comedy "The Waterboy." Thanks to 'Alex.' On Any Given Sunday: Elizabeth Berkley is in final negotiations to play Al Pacino's love interest in Oliver Stone's "On Any Given Sunday." Berkley will play Mandy, a beautiful, but elusive love interest who represents the one true human connection for Pacino's character, a professional football coach stuck in the world of excess and hysteria of big-time sports. Charming Billy: Michael Hayden (ABC's "Murder One") will make his feature debut in writer-director William Pace's indie psychological drama "Charming Billy." The film explores what might drive a person to cross the line from suppressed rage to outward violence. Hayden plays Billy Starkman, a seemingly ordinary guy in the Midwest who one day climbs a water tower and begins firing his high-powered rifle at people driving by. Movie Trailers: A trailer for the sci-fi movie "Cube," one for the fourth Child's Play movie "Bride of Chucky" and finally a trailer for John Waters', eh, "Pecker."
Letters From A Wayward Son: Harry Connick Jr. and Tara Reid are set to star in the independent production "Letters From a Wayward Son." The movie is also expected to star Embeth Davidtz and Pete Postlethwaite. The film, which is being helmed by first-time feature director Randall Harris from his own script, is about a man (Connick) who is released from jail after serving a sentence for rape. He goes to live with a Southern family and must deal with how a small town treats an ex-convict. The story becomes more complicated when Connick's character ends up having an affair with the family's young daughter (Reid). Editors Note: I would once again like to make a request. Memoirs Of A Geisha: Spielberg has selected two unknown actresses to star in "Memoirs of a Geisha,'' an epic drama based on the bestselling World War II era novel by Arthur Golden. The hefty book, which is written in the form of a memoir, details the decadent geisha existence and the war's impact on this secret environment. It revolves around Nitta Sayuri, a 9-year-old girl sold into slavery in Kyoto in 1929, and who grows up to become one of Japan's most renowned geishas. Former dancer Rika Okamoto will play the lead role. Also hired is Broadway actress Julyana Soelistyo. The moderately budgeted Columbia project is expected to begin in the first quarter of 1999 in Japan. The Sixth Sense: Toni Collette ("Muriel's Wedding") has signed on to join Bruce Willis in the cast of "The Sixth Sense" for Disney. Olivia Williams ("The Postman") will also star in the film. Collette will play the mother of Cole (Haley Joel Osment), a young troubled boy who seems to have paranormal powers. Williams plays the wife of a psychotherapist (Willis) who is charged with treating the child. Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Barry Mendel produces. Halloween 8: CyberSleaze recently reported that Jamie Lee Curtis has been offered $20 million to star in yet another installment of the Halloween series. Jamie says she would also love to write the movie screenplay. A friend of Curtis said, "There will be another Halloween and Jamie's desperate to do it." The Wild, Wild West: The famous Western movie town of Cook Ranch in northern New Mexico went up in smoke after a planned explosion on the set of a film starring Kevin Kline ("Fierce Creatures") and Will Smith ran out of control. Full Story >>> Harlem Aria: Damon Wayans ("Bulletproof"), Gabriel Casseus and Christian Camargo are set to star in the independent film "Harlem Aria." The movie is being directed by William Jennings, who is making his feature debut from his original screenplay. "Harlem" is a fairy tale about a young man (Casseus) with a twisted sense of reality who seeks out his dream to be an opera singer. On his journey he meets with a guilt ridden pianist (Camargo) and a street savvy hustler (Wayans). They become friends and learn to overcome their shortcomings.
Chill Factor: Skeet Ulrich ("Scream") is set to star in "Chill Factor.'' The picture is an adventure about two men dealing with a highly toxic substance that must be kept below 50 degrees. Shooting will take place in Utah and on the East Coast, with Hugh Johnson directing the Warner Bros. project. Movie Trailers: A trailer for Eddie Murphy's latest comedy "Holy Man" also starring Jeff Goldblum and Kelly Preston. Also the full "Star Trek: Insurrection" teaser with thanks to Movie-List.
The Wonder Boys: Curtis Hanson ("L.A. Confidential") may direct Michael Douglas in "The Wonder Boys." Douglas would play the author of a wildly successful novel who's trying to write another but is feeling the crushing weight of the first success and having trouble getting started. The 13th Warrior: The final set date for this upcoming Viking film is now supposedly sometime in the 1st quarter of 1999. It was delayed because they still had shots to do and because Antonio Banderas hurt his back. Also, be sure to check out the latest test screenings over at Ain't It Cool News. Thanks to 'Brandino.' Inferno: Kelly Ewing will make her feature debut opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme in the indie actioner "Inferno.'' Pic is about a troubled drifter (Van Damme) who defends the inhabitants of a small town from two rival gangs. Ewing will play an innocent victim who is saved by Van Damme. Freddy Vs Jason: Last week's edition of Entertainment Tonight supposedly said the film is almost done and it will be released June 1999. Confirmation, anybody? A slashing thanks to 'Pax.' Next To You: Adrian Grenier and Kris Park are sliding beside star Melissa Joan Hart for John Schultz's "Next To You." John Schultz is directing the teen comedy. The film focuses on Hart and her next-door neighbor (Grenier), who grew up together but never developed romantic feelings for each other until gathering for their high school's centennial celebration. Park will play Grenier's best friend.

The Bone Collector: Queen Latifah ("Sphere") has joined the cast of "The Bone Collector,'' starring Denzel Washington. The Universal project is about a quadriplegic detective (Washington) who tracks down a serial killer with his partner (Angelina Jolie). Latifah will play the detective's nurse and confidant. Phillip Noyce ("The Saint'') is directing the picture. The Lord of the Rings: Variety recently added a brand new article about this upcoming Peter Jackson project right here. Untitled Project: Lumi Cavazos has inked to join Rosanna Arquette and Ally Sheedy in Allison Anders and Kurt Voss' untitled ensemble comedy, scheduled to begin shooting around Los Angeles in September. Anders and Voss are co-directing from a script they penned together. Shepherd: Amy Irving ("Carrie 2") has joined the cast of "Shepherd," now filming in Utah. The indie feature also stars Peter Facinelli, Tom Arnold and Chris Isaak. "Shepherd," written and being directed by James Rowe, concerns a group of football jocks who cover up a murder committed by a mentally handicapped friend. Producing the film are Peter Glatzer, Sean Furst and Galt Niedenhoffer. Loving Jezebel: Hill Harper ("He Got Game") and Phylicia Rashad will star in romantic comedy "Loving Jezebel." David Lancaster is producing. The budget is about $1 million. Written and directed by Kwyn Bader in his feature debut, the film follows Harper as a hopeless romantic who can't help falling in love with other men's women Knock Off: Jean-Claude Van Damme's latest action flick "Knock Off" opens this week in the US, and 'Leif' has managed to catch a sneak-peek of it. Click below to read his review. Knock Off - A Film Review (Positive) Simon Sez: Variety reports that Dennis Rodman ("Double Team") is in France shooting an action-comedy called "Simon Sez.'' Rodman plays an Interpol agent who must rescue the kidnapped daughter of an old associate. He teams up with two monks who happen to be computer geniuses. Standup comedians John Pinette and Ricky Harris play the monks. Writer/producer Kevin Elders ("Iron Eagle") directs.
