Girl in the Curl: Jennifer Love Hewitt is in advanced talks to star in Columbia Pictures' "Girl in the Curl," which is expected to shoot in the spring. The film is a romantic comedy-drama about a young woman who falls in love with surfing while trying to come to terms with the death of her brother. Former Touchstone Pictures president Donald De Line produces with Seth Jaret, Hewitt and partner Jill Gilbert from a script by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith. Jaret also manages the two writers. The film was developed through Hewitt's Sony-based production company, Love Spell Entertainment. No director is attached to the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Final Fantasy: The Movie: The Gaming Intelligence Agency website released 2 new Final Fantasy movie clips. The full description from GIA is as follows: While the clips are short, they offer a fantastic new glimpse at Square's fully computer-generated movie. The camera begins by panning across a desolate, barren landscape of some kind, with a harsh sun glaring in the background. Between camera pans, the scene switches to an up-close look at a young woman's face, who appears to be staring out at the wasteland. She blinks, and her eyes appear to narrow in sadness as she continues watching. The clip then cuts to a brief splash of the words "Final Fantasy" surrounded by.

Movie Posters: A nice, moody poster for Tim Burton's upcoming film "Sleepy Hollow," starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci. Also a poster for the Nicolas Cage/Patricia Arquette starrer "Bringing Out the Dead," helmed by Martin Scorsese. Rock Stars Don't Take Finals: Writer-director Adam Rifkin ("Detroit Rock City") is turning his eye to "Rock Stars Don't Take Finals" for Destination Film. The project, written by Rifkin and Steve Bing, tells the story of two premed students swept away the night before their final exams by the world's greatest rock star for a whirlwind night in Las Vegas and LA, THR reports. Detroit Rock City: An early review for "Detroit Rock City" - which is a comedy about four teenagers in 1978 who try to scam their way into a KISS concert. Thanks to DeWyNGaLe. Detroit Rock City - A Film Review (Mixed) Music of the Heart: A title clarification for Wes Craven's upcoming drama (also known as '50 Violins' at one point). Thanks to Comingsoon.net. According to both 'N Sync's & Gloria Estefan's Official web sites (who have a duet in the movie called "Music of My Heart"), the title to the upcoming Wes Craven pic is "Music of the Heart", not "Music of My Heart," as previously was announced. The movie stars two time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep, Academy Award nominee Angela Bassett, & Grammy Award Winner, Gloria Estefan in her motion picture debut. Miramax will open the film in over 1,000 theaters on October 15. Dr. T and the Women: Variety reports that Helen Hunt is near a commitment to star with Richard Gere in "Dr. T and the Women'' for director Robert Altman. The comedy concerns a midlife crisis-suffering gynecologist (Gere) who mixes stirrups with lifestyle stir-ups as he becomes entangled with the many women in his life. Hunt will play a woman with whom he has an extramarital affair. Liv Tyler is also in discussions to take part in the film, and Altman has yet to cast an actress to play the gynecologist's wife. Although a domestic distributor is still being sought, filming will begin in mid-November in Dallas. Never Better: Rachel Griffiths and Alan Rickman have paired with Josh Hartnett and Rachael Leigh Cook in "Never Better" for Miramax Films and Intermedia. Bill Nighy ("Still Crazy") is also in the film, and Natasha Richardson is in negotiations to take a role. Shooting begins on location in England and Ireland later this month. Previously titled "Blow Dry," the project is being directed by Paddy Breathnach ("I Went Down") from a script by Simon Beaufoy ("Full Monty"). In the story of a rivalry between two competing beauty salons in a small English town, Rickman plays a hairdresser who is content to do things the old-fashioned way, while his son (Hartnett) is a morgue beautician, THR reports.
Halloween H2K: Halloween: TWoMM reports that producer of several 'Halloween' flicks Paul Freeman has announced the current working title for the next installment in the series as 'Halloween H2K - Evil Never Dies' ("Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies," anyone?) Several writers are working on scripting the movie, which will probably feature a return to Haddonfield storyline. The film will most likely be shot in Salt Lake City, home of previous sequels. 'Halloween H2K' will be distributed by Dimension Films, and is targeted for a Fall 2000 release. Scream 3: We've added another follow-up story to the recent spoiler-filled 'Scream 3' report, which you can read right here. X-Men: Variety reports that Famke Janssen ("The Faculty") has joined the cast of "X-Men," Bryan Singers screen version of the Marvel Comics series about a team of genetic mutants with superhero powers. Janssen will play a superhero gifted with psychic powers of telepathy and telekinesis. Cinescape Online has since confirmed that Janssen's role is that of Jean Grey. Happy Campers: Brad Renfro ("Apt Pupil") and Dominique Swain ("Lolita") will play camp counselors bent on upending traditional camp life in New Line Cinema's "Happy Campers," set to shoot this fall in North Carolina. The comedy is about a group of college freshmen who spend a summer as camp counselors. When their tyrannical camp director is accidentally put out of commission, the counselors decide to spice up the camp's monotonous daily activities. Daniel Waters ("Batman Returns") who penned the script will also direct, according to Variety. Riptide: Rob Bowman ("The X-Files") has signed a deal to take the helm of "Riptide,'' an action adventure on the fast track at Fox. The film revolves around a surgeon who joins a professional treasure hunter on his family's island. They search for an ominous water pit, a 60-foot-diameter hole dug down to the water table which contains brutal currents that has claimed the lives of numerous adventurers, including the surgeon's father. All those who perished tried to penetrate the pit to recover a rumored pirate's treasure believed to contain about $2 billion worth of jewels and gold. The surgeon also gets to work on his operating technique, as a romance is part of the adventure. More Info >>> Poll: The 'DBS' poll results can be accessed at this location.
