Arlington Road: A poster for the horror/thriller "Arlington Road" starring Jeff Bridges, Tim Robbins, Joan Cusack and Hope Davis. Forever Mine: Gretchen Mol ("Celebrity") is near a deal to star opposite Joseph Fiennes in the indie drama "Forever Mine.'' The film is a three-character piece in which two men battle for the affections of a woman. Mol plays a woman married to one man and courted by another (Fiennes). The result is violence and an unexpected return 15 years after the original affair. The husband is still to be cast. Its writer/director, Paul Schrader, will begin shooting in February in Toronto, New York and Miami. Marquis de Sade Project: Director Philip Kaufman ("Rising Sun") is near a deal to shoot a feature about the infamous Marquis de Sade. The Fox Searchlight drama focuses on the flamboyant de Sade and his battle of wills with a brilliant young priest for the love of a beautiful young woman. It is based on the play "Quills'' by Douglas Wright who also wrote the screenplay. Movie Trailers: A trailer for the upcoming Disney film "Tarzan," and also a trailer for "Baby Geniuses" starring Kathleen Turner and Christopher Loyd.
Blood and Chocolate: The werewolf yarn "Blood and Chocolate,'' based on Annette Curtis Klause's young-adult novel, is leaping to the big screen courtesy of MGM. The project tells the story of an impetuous teenage werewolf who's bored with her lycanthrope packmates and is mourning the loss of her father. When she falls in love with a human boy, an underworld Romeo and Juliet tale unfolds as they struggle to stay together. MGM is looking to begin filming "Blood'' this spring. It has hired Larry Williams and Leslie Libman to make their feature directing debut on "Blood." Shakespeare in Love: LegitCrit recently caugh a studio screenings of the Gwyneth Paltrow starrer "Shakespeare in Love," which will open this Friday in the US: Shakespeare in Love - A Film Review (Positive) Urban Folk Tales: Alan Cumming ("Eyes Wide Shut"), Josh Hamilton ("The House of Yes"), Matt Keeslar ("The Last Days of Disco") and Dan Futterman ("The Birdcage") will star in the indie black comedy "Urban Folk Tales" for Commotion Pictures. Futterman plays the victim of a hate crime who searches for the man who assaulted him and his friends. The cast also includes Tim Daly ("The Associate"), Barbara Sukowa ("Office Killer"), Gabriel Olds ("Without Limits") and Samuel Ball ("One Life to Live"). Writer-director Jon Matthews adapted the story from a stage play by Daniel Reitz. The low-budget film begins shooting this month in New York. The film will be produced by Matthews, Mark Djiak, Todd Harris and Stephanie Golden.
In Dreams: A poster for the upcoming DreamWorks movie "In Dreams" starring Annette Bening, Robert Downey Jr. and Aidan Quinn. A big thanks to Jawad for this poster! The Bachelor: Singer Mariah Carey is now set to appear in New Line Cinema's "The Bachelor" opposite Chris O'Donnell. Carey will play Ilana, an opera singer, ex-girlfriend and potential bride to O'Donnell, who has 24 hours to get married and collect $100 million. The singer joins a cast including Renee Zellweger, James Cromwell and Brooke Shields. Double Scoop: Below are two interesting scoops from our graphical/posters/news assistant Craig Guiboche: Hamlet: This story is yet to be made again. This time around the film will star Ethan Hawke, in a version set in contemporary times. Kyle MacLachlan will star as Claudius and Bill Murray as Polonius. No mention on targeted release. George Lucas: A new computer animated feature is set to be released from George Lucas. Lucas will release a computer-animated Frankenstein with a targeted release for summer of 2000. The Boat: Jan De Bont's Blue Tulip Prods. will continue to move into independent production by teaming with Kushner-Locke to co-produce "The Boat," a horror picture with a $20 million-$25 million budget. Yves Simoneau ("Free Money") will direct. Written by Randall Badat, "The Boat" is about a ship that sails into people's lives to wreak havoc. Shooting is set to begin in July. Boricua's Bond: October Films genre label Rogue Pictures has acquired urban drama "Boricua's Bond," the debut film by 20-year-old writer-director Val Lik. Lik also stars in the film with Frankie Negron ("The Capeman"), who plays a young artist struggling with his gang of friends, his family and the violent, drug-filled streets of the South Bronx. Shot on location, the low-budget film features cameos by model Tyson Beckford and salsa and hip-hop stars Method Man, Big Punisher, Treach, Stickyfingaz, Redman and Mi Mayor. Terminator 3: Variety reports that a third installment of the "Terminator'' franchise is quickly taking shape at Fox with Arnold Schwarzenegger in talks to reprise his role as the indestructible cyborg with James Cameron planning to write and produce. At present he's not planning to direct, but sources said that could change. None of the deals are completed, but enthusiasm is high enough among the participants that the film will move forward. Sad Note: Anthony Hopkins says he's had enough of the Hollywood rat race and has decided to quit acting. The Oscar-winning star tells London's News of the World that he finds show business "tiresome, disturbing, and deeply distasteful," and will soon give it up. Hopkins, 60, tells the paper that "I've got to get out because I think acting is very bad for one's mental health," adding to the Daily Mail, "I can't take it any more. This has got to stop. I have wasted my life." Full Story >>> Untitled Comedy: Paramount Pictures has purchased an untitled comedy pitch by "Dr. Dolittle" writer Larry Levin. Donald De Line will produce the film through his newly minted production company, De Line Pictures. The story is about a professional who has everything going forhim -- career, finances and love life -- except he doesn't have a best friend. He then sets on a search to find a best buddy. Movie Trailers: A Quicktime version of the "Ed TV" trailer and a second trailer for "The Thin Red Line." Also one for the Woody Harrelson/Patricia Arquette starrer "The Hi-Lo Country."

"Brockovich'' tells the story of an unemployed, single mother who, after losing a personal injury suit, guilts her attorney into hiring her. While over-achieving to make up for her lack of experience, she uncovers a toxic spill and its subsequent corporate cover-up. Richard LaGravanese wrote the script.
