February 6th/7th 1999 - Movie News/Rumours

Crusade

Crusade: Above is an early promo poster made back when this project was first planned. Poster is courtesy of 'Mystical Samurai Ninja of Always' with thanks to 'Mike77.' Also, here's a new story from Variety: Arnold Schwarzenegger is in serious talks to revive the epic action film "Crusade" with producer-financier Arnon Milchan. If a deal can be struck, Milchan likely would make the film under his overall arrangement at 20th Century Fox. It's unclear who Schwarzenegger and Milchan would choose to direct, though Paul Verhoeven is interested, five years after he nearly directed Schwarzenegger when the film was to be financed by Carolco. Long considered one of the best unproduced scripts of recent years, the Walon Green-penned "Crusade" has a fascinating history that ended up with Schwarzenegger himself owning the project. Schwarzenegger long has been expected to play the hero, Hagen, a reluctant warrior who begins the film as a prisoner set to die. He's freed when he burns the image of the cross into his back during a visit by the pope, and he's drafted to recapture Jerusalem. The 11th century drama has shades of both "Conan the Barbarian" and "Braveheart."

Reindeer Games: Charlize Theron has finalized plans to star with Ben Affleck and Gary Sinise in "Reindeer Games," a crime drama directed by John Frankenheimer. Affleck plays a freshly paroled ex-con trying to get his life back on track when he's drawn into a casino robbery staged around the holidays. Theron has been cast for the female lead. The film was scripted by Ehren Kruger ("Arlington Road") and begins shooting in March.

The Matrix: A new, full trailer has been released at the Official Site. The previous trailers have all been great, and this one supposedly is even better! Click below to see for yourself:

Spielberg Projects: 'TemplerSay' sends along some Spielberg news, some of which we might have heard before..or not:

A week ago from last Friday, Steven Speilberg was interviewed on the show Access Hollywood, where he was attending a critics ceremony. Speilberg was asked questions about the Success of SPR, and then he was asked about his pal Lucas' upcoming Star Wars Prequel. He mentioned that he has seen it (what there was of it) and that he couldn't wait until he can see it again, in full.

The Reporter also asked Steven Speilberg what his next film is, and Speilberg said that this coming fall season he hopes to start filming Minority Report with Tom Cruise.

And, then, the Reporter asked Speilberg if there is going to be another Indiana Jones film. Speilberg responded that there is going to be another film, and that he hopes to have it out in theaters at no later than the Summer of 2001.

Halloween 8: Below is a scoop which is loaded with SPOILERS for those who haven't seen "H20" or don't want to read any info on the possible next installment. Thanks to 'Anonymous.'

Everyone has heard Moustapha Akkad say "I'll be making Halloween films till the day I die" and "The Halloween films will never be finished." With that said we can probably all assume that "Halloween: H20" probably isn't the last Halloween film. So how will Michael come back? He's dead......or is he. The latest rumor that has popped-up is that Laurie didn't kill Michael, but one of the paramedics. The rumor goes on to say that Michael knocked out one of the paramedics, put tape on his mouth so he couldn't talk, and put his mask and clothes on him to make everyone think it was him. Then inside the van with Laurie, the paramedic came to, and when he tried to get Laurie's attention she slammed the brakes, making him fly out the window. He got stuck between the tree and the truck, and then Laurie cut not Michael, but the paramedics his head off. Is this true? I don't know? This is just all rumor, but it would explain why Michael was acting so weird and different than usually in the last minutes of H20. Did you notice how much Michael was checking himself when he was stuck between the tree and the truck, like he didn't know where he was? Maybe it wasn't Michael, but the paramedic who didn't know what the hell was going on........

The Stanford Prison Experiment: 20th Century Fox is close to a deal to pick up "The Stanford Prison Experiment." Leonardo DiCaprio is attached to star and Lee Tamahori attached to direct. The screenplay is based on an actual experiment conducted at Stanford University in the summer of 1971, when a professor named Phil Zimburdo turned the basement of a psychology building into a mock prison. The randomly chosen subjects were 19- and 20-year-old students who were divided into camps of either prison guards or prisoners. What was to be a two-week experiment was cut short after six days because of the level of cruelty and sadism that erupted among the participants, mainly those playing guards.
