Small Soldiers - The search for a commanding voice to lead the troops in DreamWorks' special effects film "Small Soldiers'' has ended. The studio has signed Tommy Lee Jones to voice Chip Hazard, the toy soldier who leads a troop of walking, talking mini-military men. "Small Soldiers'' stars Kirstin Dunst, Phil Hartman, Jay Mohr and Gregory Smith and is directed by Joe Dante. Jones has previously used his distinctive Texas drawl as the voice of the bulldog in the Red Dog Beer campaign.

X-Files: The Movie - The second teaser poster can be found right here.

Alien Love Triangle - After co-starring roles in the two ''Scream'' films, "Friends'' star Courteney Cox is set to join Kenneth Branagh and Heather Graham in the sci-fi short "Alien Love Triangle.'' Danny Boyle will take the helm from John Hodge's screenplay for this film in the "Alien Love'' trilogy for Dimension Films. In the movie, Branagh's character finds out his wife (Cox) is actually a male from another planet.

Deep Impact - If you have the Vivo Plug-in, you can check out this new teaser for the upcoming blockbuster, "Deep Impact."

Forces Of Nature - Sandra Bullock is in negotiations to star opposite Ben Affleck in the romantic comedy "Forces of Nature" for DreamWorks, the studio confirmed on Wednesday. The project is about a by-the-book Manhattanite (Affleck) who, while traveling to meet his fiancee, gets sidetracked by various forces of nature, including a hurricane, a plane crash and a free-spirited female traveler (Bullock), with whom he falls in love.

Commander Hamilton - Capella Intl., the sales division of Rolf Deyhle's Capella Films, has emerged from a period of dormancy by picking up worldwide rights, excluding Scandinavia and Russia, to the $7.5 million Swedish action drama "Commander Hamilton." The film, which is the feature debut of Norwegian TV and commercial helmer Harald Zwart, stars Peter Stormare, Lena Olin and Mark Hamill. "Hamilton" opened last weekend in Sweden, where it is being handled by Buena Vista Intl., garnering 100,000 admissions.

Eyes Wide Shut - The longest film shoot in modern movie history has officially ended. Columnist Army Archerd reports Stanley Kubrick called it a wrap on "Eyes Wide Shut'' on January 31, almost 15 months after production began. Kubrick now begins post-production, and Warner Bros. brass can only hope he cuts faster than he shoots, because the studio is anticipating a holiday release for the Tom Cruise-Nicole Kidman picture.

DreamWorks has signed comedy screenwriter Jim Herzfeld to a $1.95 million deal to write two films and do a rewrite on a third. Herzfeld currently is writing an untitled Mike Myers vehicle for Disney, the same studio for which he penned the just-wrapped "Meet the Deedles," starring Dennis Hopper and slated for a summer release.

Toy Story 2 - The sequel to "Toy Story'' is scheduled to be released in theaters -- rather than as a video -- during the 1999 holiday season. Walt Disney Co. and Pixar Animation Studios said "Toy Story 2'' will feature the voices from the first film, including Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, who voiced Woody and Buzz Lightyear, respectively. The sequel was originally scheduled to be a direct-to-video offering. In the sequel, the toys' owner Andy goes off to summer camp and the toys are left on their own. A toy collector kidnaps Woody, and his toybox buddies have to rescue him. The original "Toy Story'' was released in 1995, and grossed $360 million worldwide.

The Runaway Jury - Variety reports that Director Philip Kaufman ("Rising Sun") is in talks with Warner Bros. to helm "The Runaway Jury," based on John Grisham's legal thriller of the same name. Pic is one of the remaining projects to fall under the New Regency-Warner Bros. co-production agreement, which was not renewed upon its expiration last summer. In "The Runaway Jury," a man and woman mastermind an elaborate scheme to manipulate a jury that's deciding on a landmark lawsuit against America's top tobacco companies.

The Replacement Killers - It isn't easy starring in an action movie. Just ask actor Chow Yun-Fat, star of the new movie "The Replacement Killers.'' According to USA Today, Chow's hands were blistered by the 546 rounds of ammunition he had to fire off in the film's climactic shootout. Medical personnel reportedly had to care for Chow between takes. "The next morning,'' Chow said, ''I couldn't hold my chopsticks. My hands wouldn't stop shaking.''

Frost - Kelly Preston has signed on to star opposite Michael Keaton in "Frost,'' a visual effects-laden project set for a Christmas release. The story centers on a man named Jack Frost who dies during a snowstorm, but returns as a snowman the following Christmas to finish the job of raising his young son. Preston (''Addicted to Love'') will play Keaton's wife. The Warner Bros. project is set to start shooting March 2.

The Talented Mr. Ripley - Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow are set for a trip to Italy for star turns in "The Talented Mr. Ripley.'' The story, based on a Patricia Highsmith novel, revolves around con artist Tom Ripley, who has been commissioned by a wealthy American to retrieve his prodigal son from Italy. But on arrival, Ripley is smitten with the son's charmed existence -- and his girlfriend. Determined to preserve his newfound way of life, he murders the son and assumes his identity. Academy Award-winner Anthony Minghella (The English Patient) will direct. The film will be shot in Rome, Venice and Naples.

Editors Note - Sorry about the lack of news today, but it's a slow news day (yes, again.) But remember, what you don't send in, doesn't come up here. So please send some cool scoops this way, you don't have to, but it would have been nice to get some scoops once in a while :-)
