Nicole Kidman must feel like she's getting paroled from prison. Variety says she's finally wrapping up her part in ''Eyes Wide Shut'' and will arrive in Los Angeles today. She and husband Tom Cruise have been shooting the film in London with Stanley Kubrick, who's noted more for his perfectionism than his haste, for more than a year. It's still not clear when Cruise will finish his part. Kidman won't have much of a break before starting "Practical Magic'' in which she and Sandra Bullock play witches.
Godzilla - In a recent Sci-Fi Invasion interview, writer/producer Dean Devlin (Independence Day) said that he and his partner Roland Emmerich hope to make their upcoming Godzilla film the first in a trilogy.
Texas Blood Money - Brett Harrelson (The People vs. Larry Flynt) has signed to star opposite Robert Patrick (Cop Land) in "Texas Blood Money," the sequel to "From Dusk Till Dawn." The film, due to begin shooting in South Africa shortly, concerns a group of thieves who discover during a bank heist in Mexico that one of their own is actually a vampire. Director Scott Spiegel co-wrote the script with Duane Whitaker. It is based on a story by "Dusk" scribe and co-star Quentin Tarantino, "Fresh" director Boaz Yakin and Spiegel. Tarantino and "Dusk" director Robert Rodriguez are producing. A "Dusk" prequel, "Hangman's Daughter," is already in production, and stars Italy's Marco Leonardi (Like Water for Chocolate). P. J. Pesce directs from a script by Rodriguez and his cousin Alvaro Rodriguez.
Surrender Dorothy - Having fit the glass slipper in Fox Family's "Cinderella," Drew Barrymore now wants to wear the ruby slippers. Barrymore will star in and co-produce "Surrender Dorothy," a Warner Bros. film inspired by "The Wizard of Oz."
Instinct - "NewsRadio" star Maura Tierney continues her quiet ascent on the feature scene. Tierney, who played Jim Carrey's estranged wife in "Liar Liar" and bested numerous actresses to land the politico role in "Primary Colors," will next co-star alongside Oscar winners Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding Jr. in the Jon Turteltaub-directed "Instinct," the Touchstone adaptation of the Daniel Quinn novel "Ishmael."

Eaters of the Dead - Norwegian actor Dennis Storhøi (who plays "Herger" in the movie) became friends for life with both Antonio Banderas and Omar Sharif while they were shooting the movie. Also, two new cast-members includes Dennis Storhøi's wife Mona Keilhau and actress Turid Balke. Mona Keilhau plays the mistress to one of the Kings in the film, who is eventually (SPOILER) burned on a fire. (/SPOILER)
H2O - Robert Forster, whose career was pulled out of deep freeze by "Jackie Brown'' director Quentin Tarantino, continues his career thaw. Variety says Forster is in talks with Dimension Films to join Jamie Lee Curtis in "H2O,'' the next installment of "Halloween,'' being prepared for the 20th anniversary of the original. Forster, who was so tired of rejection that he nearly retired before the fateful Tarantino call, is generating lots of positive buzz about his "Jackie Brown'' role as a bail bondsman. Forster has also just signed to star in British writer-director Paul Chart's independent film "Great Sex.''
Arlington Road - Hope Davis, who co-stars in the current Sundance entry ''Next Stop Wonderland,'' is set to join Tim Robbins, Jeff Bridges and Joan Cusack in "Arlington Road.'' Variety reports that the film features Robbins and Cusack as a seemingly normal married couple. Bridges - with whom Davis' character is intimately entwined - is their next-door neighbor and a professor specializing in terrorism, and starts to suspect the pair are hatching a deadly plot. Davis made her screen debut in Joel Schumacher's "Flatliners.''
Editors Note - Slow news day today, but hopefully there will be some cool stories tomorrow! Also, I know the famous "Superbowl Sunday" is coming up this weekend, and as you might know, there will be new clips from the upcoming releases "Armageddon", "Lost In Space", "Sphere" and "The Mask Of Zorro" during the show. So, just like Garth Franklin over at 'Dark Horizons', I would be very glad if someone who knows how could record the clips, and make them into .MOV, .AVI or Real Video files :-) If you can, please send them to me when you've made them, and I'll make sure they come up on a really fast server within a few days!
