Fight Club The Green Mile

Movie Posters: With thanks to the great folks over at CHUD - a poster for 'Fight Club,' a thriller starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter. Also a poster for the prison drama "The Green Mile," which stars Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise.

Universal Soldier: The Return: A review of the Van Damme action sequel "Universal Soldier: The Return." One or two mild spoilers are included. Thanks to 'Duo.'

Universal Soldier: The Return - Review (Mixed)

The Adaptive Ultimate: Variety recently reported that director Jan De Bont ("The Haunting") is in talks to take the helm of the science-fiction thriller "The Adaptive Ultimate." The Fox project, which is based on Stanley G. Weinbaum's 1935 short story, tells of a scientist who uses a dying homeless woman to test a process that grants powers of unlimited adaptability. Almost overnight, she becomes seductive, powerful and dangerous to society. The scientist is torn between the love he feels for the woman and his responsibility to civilization at large.

How to Kill Your Neighbor's Dog: Kenneth Branagh ("Wild Wild West") and Robin Wright Penn ("HurlyBurly") have signed to star in the comedy "How to Kill Your Neighbor's Dog." Branagh will portray an acclaimed Los Angeles-based playwright who has fallen on hard times. When his plight is worsened by his lack of sleep due to his neighbor's barking dog, the writer befriends an equally distressed 8-year-old neighbor, and things turn around for both of them. Wright Penn will play his wife. Shooting on the sub-$10 million picture is to begin next month in Los Angeles. Michael Kalesniko ("Private Parts") will make his feature directing debut from his own script, according to Variety.

Vince Vaughn

The Cell: Vince Vaughn ("Psycho") is in final talks to star opposite Jennifer Lopez in New Line's "The Cell" for director Tarsem. "Cell" tells the story of a scientist (Lopez) who journeys inside the mind of a comatose serial killer in order to discover the whereabouts of the girl he kidnapped. Vaughn plays the FBI agent tracking the case. Mark Protosevich ("Impostor") scripted the film, which is being produced by Julio Caro and Eric McLeod. Shooting begins next month in Los Angeles, according to THR.

Muhammad Ali Project: Will Smith will receive $20 million to star as Muhammad Ali for director Barry Sonnenfeld. Smith told the Toronto Sun that production begins this fall on the story of the world's greatest boxer. "I'm excited about the challenge," says Smith. "Ali wants me to do it. When he wants you to do it, then, it's like, 'OK.' Thanks to 'Budak.' Full Story >>>

My First Mister: Variety reports that Albert Brooks ("Out of Sight") and Leelee Sobieski ("Eyes Wide Shut") have signed to star in the comedy "My First Mister" for director Christine Lahti. The under-$10 million picture follows the emerging relationship of a rebellious 18-year-old girl (Sobieski) and an emotionally closed-off older man (Brooks). Their bond helps them both to grow, allowing the girl to find companionship with a young peer, while the man finds renewed happiness. "Mister'' is scheduled to begin shooting this fall.

Bruiser: George Romero this week begins shooting his first movie in six years, the indie "Bruiser." The film stars Jason Flemyng ("Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels"), Peter Stormare ("8MM"), Leslie Hope ("First Degree") and Nina Garbiras ("Mixing Nia"). The Romero-scripted film, whose $5 million budget will be fully financed by Canal Plus, starts production this week in Toronto. Flemyng stars as a successful business executive who wakes one morning to find his face is gone. With his new anonymity, he sets out to exact revenge against his overbearing boss (Stormare), his duplicitous friend (Andrew Tarbet) and his cheating wife (Garbiras) -- while pursuing the woman he admires from afar (Hope), THR reports.

Three to Tango Bowfinger The Haunting

Eyes Wide Shut: Variety reports further on the 'digital adjustments' made to EWS: In an extraordinary gesture immediately following the film's first screening for some Los Angeles critics Thursday, Harlan, who was Kubrick's brother-in-law, asked the group to stay for a few minutes while he explained and showed the alterations the MPAA had demanded before it would issue an R rating. Death Race 3000: Tom Cruise will team up with "Mortal Kombat" director Paul Anderson on a remake of Roger Corman's cult classic "Death Race 2000," for Paramount Pictures. It'll be renamed "Death Race 3000." The remake will be co-produced by C/W Prods. and developed as a starring vehicle for Cruise. J.F. Lawton ("Pretty Woman") will script the story of race car drivers who acquire points by running down pedestrians. The original low-budget film was released in 1975 and starred Sylvester Stallone and David Carradine, according to THR.

Good Graces: Martin Landau, Michael Madsen and Cathy Moriarty have joined Rosanna Arquette and newcomer Vinnie Curto in the cast of indie pic "Good Graces" for director Charles Kanganis ("Race the Sun") and SoHo Entertainment. David Hogan ("Barb Wire") and Curto penned the black comedy, which is about a boxer (Curto) desperately trying to keep his distance from the mob. The low-budget "Graces" has been described as a mix between noir classic "Body Heat" and HBO's "The Sopranos." Moriarty plays the boxer's high school sweetheart, who tries to help her ex-beau stay away from the mafia. Arquette's character is a thief who steals from a mob boss played by Landau. Madsen is cast as an FBI agent, THR reports.
