Movie Posters: A poster for "Detroit Rock City," which is a comedy about four teenagers in 1978 who try to scam their way into a KISS concert. One for "Brokedown Palace" - about two women who are arrested for smuggling while vacationing in Thailand. Dogma: A Comingsoon.net scooper was at the Chicago Comic Book Convention over the weekend where Kevin Smith spoke about 'Dogma.' He said the new release date is mid-October, more specifically Oct 8th or 15th at this point. Thanks to Mirko. Movie Trailers: A trailer for "The Story of Us," starring Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer as a disillusioned couple on the brink of separation, in this incisive look at the good, the bad and the ugly of the unholy state of matrimony. Also a trailer for the comedy "Dudley Do-Right," starring Brendan Fraser, Sarah Jessica Parker and Alfred Molina. Thanks to Universal.
Knockaround Guys: Seth Green ("Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me") will star in New Line's gangster tale "Knockaround Guys." John Malkovich and Barry Pepper also star in "Guys," which follows four sons of well-known mobsters who head to a small Montana town in search of cash. Writers David Levien and Brian Koppelman will make their directorial debut on the film, slated to begin shooting in September. Lawrence Bender will produce, while New Line senior vp Brian Witten and production head Michael De Luca are overseeing the project for the studio, according to THR. Trixie: Dermot Mulroney has joined Emily Watson and Nick Nolte in the cast of Alan Rudolph's noirish screwball comedy "Trixie." Nathan Lane, Lesley Ann Warren, Will Patton and Brittany Murphy also star in the film, which began shooting this month in Vancouver. Watson stars as a streetwise security guard who becomes embroiled in a blackmail scheme involving a promiscuous senator (Nolte). Mulroney plays a raffish ladies' man who works his way into Watson's heart even as she is framed for murder. Produced by Robert Altman, the film is jointly financed by Paris-based Pandora Cinema and Sony Pictures Classics, which will release the film domestically. Rudolph penned the script from a story co-written with John Binder. James McLindon will executive produce, THR reports.
Mission: Impossible 2: Paramount is postponing the release of "Mission: Impossible 2" from its original December 17th date to Wednesday May 24th, 2000. The April production start was delayed for several weeks due to script and budgetary issues. Cruise also took some time off shooting the sequel to do publicity for Warner Bros.' "Eyes Wide Shut." Also one for the drama "Jakob the Liar" - about the poor café owner Jakob (Robin Williams), who accidentally overhears a forbidden radio news bulletin signaling Soviet military successes against German forces during WWII.
Mars and Batman: The Joker's Revenge: Popcorn.co.uk recently added short audio interview with Val Kilmer - in which he explains a strange dimension to his new project 'Mars.' Other recent goodies at their site includes an insightful interview with Ian Mansfield, writer of "Batman: The Joker's Revenge," and also one with "Star Wars: Episode I - TPM" producer Rick McCallum. Inspector Gadget: LegitCrit recently caugh a studio screening of the Matthew Broderick starrer "Inspector Gadget," which has gone through serious re-editing and now runs for aprox. 80 minutes. Click below to read his review (no spoilers): Inspector Gadget - A Film Review (Very Negative) Partners: David Paymer ("Payback") and Casper Van Dien ("Starship Troopers") have teamed to star in buddy road comedy "Partners" for director Joey Travolta. The indie film is shooting in and around Los Angeles. Originally written by Jeff A. Ferrell, the story follows the adventures of a drifter (Van Dien) and a strait-laced man (Paymer) who are inadvertently brought together by a briefcase containing an important computer disk. Vanessa Angel ("Kingpin") stars as Paymer's deceptive girlfriend. Jenifer Lewis, Seiko Matsuda, Yuji Okumoto and Donna Pescow round out the cast. Carmen Miller is producing, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bond News: According to the UK Sunday Times, Pierce Brosnan may be leaving the role of James Bond after making a final 007 film in 18 months time. Brosnan fears he will be typecast as the secret agent unless he quits before he is 50. Brosnan is 46 and has told showbusiness friends that he wants to make other kinds of films. Knockaround Guys: Barry Pepper ("Saving Private Ryan") is in final negotiations to play the lead, Matty, in the New Line's gangster flick "Knockaround Guys." Pepper's "Ryan" co-star Vin Diesel is being courted for a part in the movie. James Bond Set: In other Bond-related news, as part of its 75th anniversary, MGM will release special editions of the 19 pictures in the 37-year-old franchise on DVD and VHS, beginning Oct. 19. Only three of the seven titles have previously been available on DVD. All 19 of the titles, including the latest installment "World is Not Enough," will be released by the end of next year. The DVD editions will feature extras such as documentaries created for the releases, commentaries, featurettes, storyboards, music videos and trailers -- sweet!
