Movie Trailers: A much better quality teaser trailer has been released at the official Sleepy Hollow site. Also, new trailers for the comedies "Bowfinger" (Steve Martin/Eddie Murphy) and "Runaway Bride" (Julia Roberts/Richard Gere).

Smuggler’s Moon: Scribe Bruce Feirstein ("Tomorrow Never Dies") has been brought in to rewrite Warner Bros. action thriller “Smuggler’s Moon” as a possible starring vehicle for Will Smith, according to Variety.

Incredible Mr. Limpet: Variety also reports Jim Carrey has officially passed on Warner Bros.' "Incredible Mr. Limpet." The studio and producers now will likely turn to Robin Williams or Mike Myers to play the lead role of a mild-mannered man who falls into the ocean and turns into a fish.

The Vertical Limit: Bill Paxton and Nicholas Lea are climbing onto Columbia Pictures' "The Vertical Limit." Chris O'Donnell also stars in the thriller, which is directed by Martin Campbell. Paxton is in final negotiations to portray a mountain-climbing billionaire whose inexperience collides with his arrogance while climbing treacherous K2. Lea (best known as "The X-Files" villain Alex Krycek) will play Tom, the leader of Paxton's group, which becomes trapped and must be rescued by O'Donnell. The film, which also stars Robin Tunney and Scott Glenn, is scheduled to begin production in New Zealand on Aug. 2, THR reports.

July 1st 1999 - Movie News/Rumors

Halle BerryRebecca Romijn-Stamos

X-Men: Halle Berry and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos are set to join the cast of Fox's "X-Men,'' based on the bestselling Marvel Comics series about a team of genetic mutants with superhero powers. Berry would play Storm, who summons hurricane-force winds, rain and bolts of lightning to control the weather. Romijn-Stamos will take on Mystique, a blue-skinned villainess who is able to change shapes into anyone she's seen. Shooting is slated to begin in September, according to Variety.

Superman Lives: Warner Bros. has hired Bill Wisher ("Terminator 2: Judgement Day") to draft a new script. Wisher has already met and pitched his take to Nicolas Cage, who has been attached to the project since early 1997 and clearly still wants to wear the S on his chest. Full Story >>>

Scream 3: Parker Posey ("You've Got Mail") has seized a lead role in "Scream 3," the final chapter of the Dimension Films horror trilogy that is slated to begin shooting July 7. The closely held plot is said to be more spoof than splatter and reportedly concerns the lives of the "Scream" crew, out of college and dealing with adult concerns, THR reports.

Mad Max 4: An anonymous submission with a possible casting choice for the fourth 'Mad Max' installment:

Rumour has it that Russell Crowe is in negotiations to star as MAD MAX in George Millers reprisal of the Post Apocolyptic hero.

The Legend of Zelda: Comingsoon.net recently heard a rumor about a 'Zelda' film. Thanks to Mirko!

"After 12 years the most sucessful video game of all time, The Legend of Zelda might be making it's way in to theaters after all. News is that a thirteen year old teenager has written the perfect script for the motion picture and is looking at DreamWorks to do an animated feature. So far, there will be songs in the movie but no characters will sing. Sort of like Tarzan. The movie has not been given a release date at this time. Movie has not been put in to production. 1 song from the movie has been written called "Hero of Time". Script-Writter is Ryan Williams.

Hannibal: David Mamet ("Ronin") is in talks to join director Ridley Scott in developing "Hannibal." The playwright and screenwriter expressed interest in the project after reading the book and after the original screenwriter, Ted Tally, passed. Sources said producer Dino De Laurentiis, who produced "Lambs" and paid $10 million for the rights to the sequel from novelist Thomas Harris, would like to shoot the picture early next year. "Hannibal" has been a best-seller since it debuted this month; it's No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller list. The book has been criticized for some of its more graphic and chilling scenes, according to The Holywood Reporter.

Robin Tunney

The Vertical Limit: Robin Tunney ("End of Days") will star opposite Chris O'Donnell in "The Vertical Limit" for Columbia Pictures and Phoenix Pictures. The film will film in New Zealand in August. In the mountain-climbing adventure, Tunney will play Annie, an experienced mountain climber who is trapped in an avalanche on the ascent of the Himalayan peak K2. Her reluctant brother (O'Donnell), who swore off the sport after the accidental death of their father, must save her, THR reports.

O Brother, Where Art Thou?: Variety reports that Musetta Vander ("Wild Wild West") is set to appear in Joel and Ethan Coen’s next project, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Vander will play a seductress in the pic, currently shooting in Mississippi with George Clooney, John Goodman and John Turturro.

Mickey Blue Eyes Movie Trailers: A new trailer for "The Blair Witch Project." The official Mickey Blue Eyes site has added both a poster and a trailer. Trailers for the upcoming Omar Epps films "In Too Deep" and "The Wood." There's also various "Dogma" clips available over at News Askew.

Around the World in 80 Days: Warner Bros. is negotiating with the ''Mummy'' team of director Stephen Sommers and actor Brendan Fraser for a remake of "Around the World in 80 Days," the 1956 Oscar winner based on the Jules Verne classic. Warner Bros. has secured the title rights to the story of a Victorian gentleman and his valet who try to travel the globe. And while Sommers and Fraser have been negotiating to reteam in a sequel of the "The Mummy,'' WB is looking to get the film into production by early next year. Full Story >>>

Moulin Rouge: John Leguizamo ("Spawn") has signed to re-team with director Baz Luhrmann on Fox's "Moulin Rouge.'' The two previously worked together in "Romeo + Juliet.'' Scripted by Luhrmann, the film is set in 1899 Paris and follows a poet who has an affair with a nightclub star as he becomes involved with the local bohemian underground. Leguizamo will play the diminutive artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Leguizamo joins Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman in the film, with filming to begin on location in Australia in October. Martin Brown will produce, according to Variety.
