Star Wars Prequels - Twenty-one years after it released the original "Star Wars," and a year after staging its record-setting re-release, the Force is once again with 20th Century Fox. Fox has entered into an agreement with Lucasfilm Ltd. to distribute the next three "Star Wars" films, which are prequels to the original "Star Wars" trilogy. The deal was announced Thursday by Fox Group chairman/CEO Peter Chernin.

Trailers - Two new trailers today, including one for the upcoming movie "Two Girls And A Guy" starring Robert Downey Jr,, and a trailer for the romantic comedy "The Object Of My Affection", starring Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd.

Just To Be Together - Variety reports that twenty-four years after playing a disillusioned TV newsman in Michelangelo Antonioni's "The Passenger," three-time Oscar winner Jack Nicholson may again collaborate with the minimalist maestro, this time as backup director on hi upcoming feature, "Just To Be Together."

The 13th Warrior

Eaters Of The Dead - This is probably the last time you'll see that title anywhere on my site. The new title for it is Officially "The 13th Warrior." Personally, I like the old "Eaters Of The Dead" title better, but I'll probably get used to it :-) Thanks to 'Debel' for the alert!

Soldier - Variety reports that Gary Busey ("Lost Highway", "Lethal Weapon") has joined the cast of Warner Bros. "Soldier," playing opposite Kurt Russell in the sci-fi thriller. Jerry Weintraub is producing. Paul Anderson is directing from a script by David Webb Peoples ("Unforgiven").

Twenty Billion - Mike Myers, who enhanced his box-office power with "Austin Powers," is ready to take on the challenge of saving the world in his next comedy. The former "Saturday Night Live" player just signed a deal (after more than a month of negotiations) to star in "Twenty Billion," produced by Sydney Pollack and directed by Michael Tolkin ("The Player," "The New Age") for Paramount Pictures. In "Twenty Billion," which starts filming in July, Myers plays a billionaire computer software mogul whose company inadvertently causes the death of three coal miners. As he tries to dig out from a public relations nightmare and restore his image, he discovers that he may be able to help save the earth, which is in danger of obliteration by a comet.

Double Jeopardy - Tommy Lee Jones is close to a deal to make Paramount Pictures' action-thriller "Double Jeopardy" his next starring role. The Bruce Beresford-helmed picture is scheduled for a July start. Jones' paycheck is considerably higher than the $10 million he earned for "U.S. Marshals."

Psycho Re-Make - Cinescape Online reports that Gus van Sant (Good Will Hunting) has set his sights on the most classic of all horror films. Van Sant is teaming with producer Brian Grazer to re-make Psycho, using the original script but updating the setting and casting what the trade calls "young, hip actors." The movie will be put on a fast- track and could be in the can within three months, according to the paper.

Disaster Area - Variety reports that Norwegian director Harald Zwart has signed a deal with 20th Century Fox to make his U.S. studio debut with the disaster spoof "Disaster Area." The picture revolves around a protagonist who battles a corporate villain bent on environmental destruction and in the process saves the world. Shooting is set to begin in August. Zwart, who built a reputation for his TV and commercial work, previously directed the Swedish film "Commander Hamilton."

Guam Goes To The Moon - Bill Pullman is close to a deal to star in Paramount and Mutual Film Co.'s comedy "Guam Goes to the Moon." He would play a former astronaut who missed out on his one chance to go to the moon. Now in retirement and working at a lunar theme-park ride, he's recruited by an entrepreneur in Guam to start a manned space program for the U.S. territory.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer - Mekhi Phifer ("Soul Food") is joining Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Brandy Norwood in the cast for the sequel to the 1997 hit movie "I Know What You Did Last Summer." She will play Norwood's boyfriend in the picture, which is tentatively titled "I Still Know." Also, below are links to the brand new teaser trailer for this upcoming film.

Phantom Of The Opera - There is now talk that John Travolta has a very busy schedule, and therefore he doesn't have the time to take the singing lessons he had wanted to take to prepare for the part. So Andrew Lloyd Webber is looking at Antonio Banderas for the part. I've never seen "Evita" myself, but I hear his singing talents are rather good, so maybe he's the right man for the part? The Mod Squad - Variety reports that The MGM film "The Mod Squad" is no longer missing Linc. The studio has landed Omar Epps to play the Afro-sporting, high-kicking operative played in the original Aaron Spelling series by Clarence Williams III. Epps will join Claire Danes and Giovanni Ribisi in the drama, to be directed by Scott Silver.

Practical Magic - Variety reports that Camilla Belle (“The Lost World: Jurassic Park”) has signed on for the role of a young Sally Owens in Warner Bros. witch-craft-themed romantic comedy “Practical Magic.” Sandra Bullock stars as the adult version of Belle’s character. Also starring are Nicole Kidman, Dianne Weist and Stockard Channing in the pic about two sisters who are raised by their aunts and introduced to the family’s secret tradition: witchcraft. The young women try to use their supernatural skills to solve their romantic problems.

Talos The Mummy

Talos The Mummy - Dark Horizons found this very cool poster for the upcoming film "Talos The Mummy" starring Jason Scott Lee, Louise Lombard, Shelley Duvall and Christopher Lee. The poster is courtesy of the Flash Film Works web site.

Supernova - Variety reports that Casting on United Artists' "Supernova" is heating up fast as three new thesps -- Peter Facinelli, Robin Tunney and Wilson Cruz -- sign on for roles in the extraterrestrial thriller. The newly signed cast members will play opposite James Spader in the UA sci-fier, slated to start lensing in mid-April. Walter Hill, who had production credits on the "Alien" film series, is helming.

The Mod Squad - Again, Variety reprots that Giovanni Ribisi ("That Thing You Do!") has been cast in the MGM feature "The Mod Squad," an update of the groovy TV series about a trio of dropouts who are rehabilitated and become police officers. In the MGM feature, Ribisi will play Pete, a member of the hipster cop unit assembled to work undercover in the Los Angeles club scene. Pic is slated for an April 27 start.

Godzilla - Cinescape Online reports that in a recent interview with USA Today, Sony merchandising executive Peter Dang described the Godzilla beast as such: "He's not green. He's cooler, sleeker and he doesn't clomp around." Not much information, I know, but it does give us a few hint on how the big G will look.
