Eyes Wide Shut [Exclusive Teaser]: Today a very pleasant surprise awaited in my mailbox, a 30 second (uncut) clip of the recent ShoWest teaser which have received a lot of buzz over the last couple of days. I contacted Trent and Lincoln over at Countdown, and they kindly agreed to help me out with the mirror list so more people can get to watch the clip. Please note that this clip includes some pretty explicit moments. A huge thanks goes to 'Thrill,' 'Trent,' 'Lincoln' and 'Ayaz' for all their help. Click below for the clip: Countdown to EWS/Movie-Page Mirror List The 13th Warrior: According to 'Debel,' the Box Office magazine is reporting the US release date for "The 13th Warrior" as August 8th 1999. However, Cinescape now has it listed under 'August 13th.' I'll go with the second date, as it's a Friday, and the first one is at a Sunday. Thanks again to 'Debel.' Standing Room Only: 'bcan' reports that John Travolta's new movie "Standing Room Only," about the life of Jimmy Roselli has been pushed back to a May 4th, 1999 start date. Filming locations include Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Gus Van Sant will direct. Thanks again to 'bcan.' The Bijou: Director Frank Darabont has agreed to direct and produce The Bijou, a romantic comedy for Castle Rock Entertainment, with Warner Bros. distributing domestically. Its very much a Capraesque movie, a romantic comedy about a young Hollywood writer who falls for a small-town girl based on mistaken identity, said Darabont. The screenplay was written by Michael Sloane, a newcomer whom Darabont has known since high school, according to Variety. Star Wars: Episode II: 'Johnny' sends in a possible scoop for this upcoming Star Wars project: According to the biggest news paper in Sweden, Aftonbladet, Thomas Mild, a 21-year old model has been signed to star in Star Wars: Episode II. When talking about it he reffered to the movie as "The Rise of the Empire". Apparently Mild was in London and bumped into George Lucas, who started asking him questions. After some time Lucas gave Mild his phone number, but Mild never called because he thought the stranger seemed so odd. When Lucas eventually called and told who he was Mild signed up for the project. However, personally I would take this news with a bit of salt. But who knows? 28 Days: Viggo Mortensen ("Psycho") is in final negotiations to star opposite Sandra Bullock in "28 Days" for Columbia Pictures. Shooting begins next month. Directed by Betty Thomas, "Days" follows the recovery of a big-city newspaper columnist (Bullock) who is forced to enter a drug and alcohol rehab center after getting a traffic ticket for driving under the influence. Mortensen will play a fellow rehab patient who is one of the people that impact Bullock's life during her recovery. Elizabeth Perkins stars as Bullock's sister. Jenno Topping, Thomas' partner in their Tall Trees production company, will produce. One Night at McCool's: Norwegian director Harald Zwart is in negotiations to make his American feature debut in October Films' "One Night at McCool's" for Michael Douglas and Allison Segan's Furthur Films. Written by Stan Seidel, "McCool's" is described as a "Rashomon" -like tale in which three men separately recount the story of a woman who ruined their lives during the course of one night. The stories are shown through each man's point of view and recollection. Pending budget and cast - which may include Douglas taking on a small role - the film is aiming to begin shooting this summer. It would be the first film to go into production from 14-month-old Furthur Films.

Mission: Impossible 2: Variety reports that the Tom Cruise film "Mission: Impossible 2" has been delayed. Members of the crew have been sent home and the March 20 start date delayed for an unspecified number of weeks. Paramount confirmed that the film's original start date has been pushed back a few weeks. The studio would not discuss the reasons for the delay, but insisted that the film was moving ahead as planned and is expected to begin production at the end of March or beginning of April. "From what we understand, the film's script is being reworked, and the production side has therefore gotten ahead of the script,'' said a spokeswoman for New South Wales state premier Bob Carr. >>> The Hollow Man: Elisabeth Shue is set to star in The Hollow Man, the big-budget Columbia drama about an invisible man. The film will be directed by Paul Verhoeven, and is quickly coming together at Columbia for an April start, and the studio has offered the title role to Robert Downey Jr. The story, scripted by Andrew Marlowe (Air Force One), concerns three scientists, two male and one female. One is turned invisible, and uses his powers for ill means, including stalking the other two, who are in love. The studio is looking to cast the third scientist. Across the Bridge: 20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to a remake of the Rod Steiger starrer, with Brett Ratner (Rush Hour) attached to direct. Writer George Gallo has updated the script and structured it more as an action-comedy along the lines of Gallos Midnight Run than the original, mannered thriller. The studio and producers have supposedly targeted Chris Tucker as well as Chris Rock and Will Smith as their top choices to topline the pic. The 1957 film and Greenes novella were set in Mexico, and followed the tribulations of a shady international financier (Steiger) who is on the lam from Scotland Yard and the FBI after murdering a man. After taking on the identity of his victim, the financier soon finds out that his adopted identity is also wanted for murder. Battlestar Galactica: A $40 million feature production of "Battlestar Galactica" is scheduled to start shooting in September in Luxembourg, its producers said Tuesday. No studio is attached yet. The TV series, starring Lorne Greene, saw a limited run on ABC in 1978-79 seasons. The big-budget extravaganza revolved around a life and death struggle between the forces of good and evil in outer space. The feature, which starts where the series left off, will explore Commander Cain's mission to find the lost Battlestar Galactica and the tribe of humans that he thinks may have reached Earth during pre-historic times aboard the first great Battlestar, the Atlantis. Prolific TV producer Glen A. Larson, who created the original "Battlestar," will produce the feature with Todd Moyer. Mike Finch ("Wing Commander") will write the screenplay.
Film director Stanley Kubrick (born July 26th, 1928 in New York City) died of natural causes at the age of 70 in his country home north of London this Sunday. Our deepest condolences goes to all his family and friends. He will be sorely missed by his many fans, but his work will live on forever. Untitled: Brad Pitt is apparently off the untitled DreamWorks Cameron Crowe project, in which he had been in negotiations with the studio to portray the lead singer of a rock band who also is the subject of a story being researched by the films star, a teen music journo. Sources said he and the studio couldnt come to terms on the film and that Pitt has moved on. Movie Posters: A great scan of the advance poster for the film "The Mummy," starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. Also a poster for the new Jet Li film, "Black Mask." Not to forget a poster for the Sean Connery/Catherine Zeta Jones starrer "Entrapment." Thanks goes to 'Walker' for the first poster. Untitled II: Touchstone Pictures has picked up Rob Schneiders untitled comedy spec for Adam Sandler and his partner Jack Giarraputo to produce. Schneider will star in the pic, which was described as extremely un-PC. It was said to be a broad comedy in the vein of the Sandler vehicle The Waterboy. Though Sandler will produce, he is not expected to co-star. Coyote Ugly: Disney is poised to green light Jerry Bruckheimer's "Coyote Ugly," a project light years removed from his usual super octane thrillers such as "Armageddon" and "Enemy of the State." The Gina Wendkos script, which Kevin Smith ("Chasing Amy") recently rewrote, went out to directors last week. The plan is for "Coyote" to go into production in May for a November release. "Coyote Ugly" derives from a GQ magazine article by Elizabeth Gilbert about a country western bar in New York City run completely by women for male customers who love their sass.
