54 54

54: Above are two nice images from the upcoming movie "54", which will star Mike Myers ("Austin Powers") and Neve Campbell ("Scream"). The movie is supposedly based on a true story. A big thanks to Glenn for the pictures!

The Boathouse: Iain Softley ("Wings of a Dove") is looking next to direct the mystical thriller "The Boathouse," with Milla Jovovich ("The Fifth Element") in line to star. "The Boathouse" is based on an Eastern European myth about a female spirit who lures people to an underwater land where they are eternally caught between life and death. The project is being produced by Softley's wife, Sarah Curtis, ("Mrs. Brown") and Robert Jones ("The Usual Suspects").

McCormack's Next Projects: Mary McCormack ("Deep Impact") has lined up two new film roles. She has joined the cast of the death row drama "True Crime," starring Clint Eastwood, who also directs, James Woods and Diane Venora. Also on her plate is "Je M'Appelle Crawford," a comedy in which she will play the president of a world hairdressing federation. Craig Ferguson and Frances Fisher also star.

Movie Trailers: The third "X-Files" trailer is available for downloading today. Also, the previews trailers and some commercial are now available at the Official Site. A few new clips from "Saving Private Ryan" are available at Hollywood Online's SPR page. Thanks to Jawad for the alert!

Quicktime Saving Private Ryan - Some Clips

Muppets from Space: The always likeable Muppets are blasting off into orbit for their sixth movie "Muppets from Space," which is set to land in theaters in July 1999. It will be the first time Kermit and gang will be directed by someone other than a Henson family member: Randal Kleiser ("Grease") has signed a seven-figure deal to start shooting the project in Australia in September.

Godzilla And Some Notes: The big lizard earned an estimated $3.5 million on Tuesday's sneak preview. The public's reaction to this movie have been rather bland. So instead of guessing if people love it or hate it, I added a poll where you can vote for Godzilla. The poll will be up for at least a week, so within then I hope we have some nice results. This poll is just a taste of things to come, when the new design is ready, I'll add lots of things the visitors can participate in. First off is a brand new Review Section where you can send in your own reviews and comments! Also, I joined the MVP Forums today. The MVP forum is much better than the old forum, and since many of the greatest movie pages on the web already use it, there are always lots of visitors there.

Godzilla Poll

So, How did you like the new Godzilla film?

It was very good!
It was okay!
It sucked!

Bringing Out The Dead: Since Warner Bros. grounded Nicolas Cage's flight plan on "Superman Lives" over script and budget concerns, the actor has been swamped with offers. Sources said Cage wants to team up with director Martin Scorsese on "Bringing Out the Dead," a Paul Schrader-scripted adaptation of the Joseph Connelly novel about a burned-out Gotham paramedic.

The Prince Of Egypt The Prince Of Egypt

The Prince Of Egypt: Two very nice images (though a little dark) from this upcoming animated feature from DreamWorks. Click on the images for a bigger version of the picture. Thanks to Jawad's Steven Spielberg Page for the pics!

Halloween H20: The Official Site recently reported that an editors cut of the film is completed, and they're currently waiting on the director's cut, which should be completed by the end of this week. No one has been assigned to musically score the film yet. A full theatrical trailer has been cut for the Cannes Film Festival in France, but Paul Freeman (the producer) isn't sure when it will make its way to the U.S.

Psycho Re-Make: Variety reports that Vince Vaughn ("The Lost World") now has signed to play Norman Bates in "Psycho," the remake of the Alfred Hitchcock classic directed by Gus Van Sant and produced by Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer. That means the famed shower scene will feature Vaughn in the Anthony Perkins role and Anne Heche in the Janet Leigh role.

Movie Trailers: A few new trailers today. First a trailer for the upcoming movie "Jane Austen's Mafia!" starring Jay Mohr, Olympia Dukakis and Christina Applegate. Also a new commercial for "Armageddon" hosted on The Seinfeldiest web site.

Clockstoppers: Director Dennis Dugan ("Happy Gilmore," "Beverly Hills Ninja") has signed a seven-figure deal to take the helm of "Clockstoppers" for Paramount. The special effects-driven comedy concerns a scientist whose invention makes people move 25 times faster than everyone around them. When his son and his son's friends accidentally get zapped, the scientist has to find a way to return them to their normal state.

Crazy For Alabama: Robert Wagner ("Austin Powers") has made a deal to play an agent in "Crazy For Alabama," a Columbia film that will be directed by Antonio Banderas and star his wife Melanie Griffith. Wagner might also be tapped for return evil duty for the "Austin Powers" sequel rumored to be in the works for later in the year.

JB Cook's Untitled Project: A script for this comedic film involves a gay man who suffers from amnesia. His father uses this opportunity to try to convice his son that he is actually heterosexual. David Spade is set to star in the film. Thanks to The Upcoming Movie List for this info!

Les Visiteurs: Variety reports that U.S. audiences never got to see Mel Brooks' English-lingo dub of France's 1993 smash comedy "Les Visiteurs," but now they stand a chance of seeing a new American version of the picture. Gaumont has been quietly developing a U.S. makeover of the time-travel romp, with the idea that filmmaker John Hughes will produce for Gaumont.

Note From Webmaster: I changed the font on this site today. The font I used to have is called "Times New Roman", and frankly I got a little bored by it. I now use the well-known "Arial" font instead. The new design for "The Movie Page" is running very late, but it will arrive sooner or later. Also, USA Today posted a full-body image of Godzilla today if anybody is interested.

Saving Private Ryan

American Psycho: Looking to cash in on his foreign potential, Canada's Lions Gate Films will pay Leonardo DiCaprio $21 million to play psychotic yuppie killer Patrick Bateman in "American Psycho." Pic is expected to start principal photography this fall in New York with a budget in the $40 million area. Lions Gate hopes the picture will be finished by spring 1999 in time for the next Cannes.

The Libertine: Johnny Depp has signed to star opposite John Malkovich in the $25 million period drama "The Libertine" for Granada Film and Mr. Mudd. The film, in which Malkovich will make his directorial debut, is the tale of the Earl of Rochester, a confidant of King Charles II, who was notorious as self-confessed sexual adventurer and England's reigning mischief maker. "Libertine" is based on British playwright Stephen Jeffreys' play of the same name.

White Jazz: Fine Line Features has signed Oscar-winning cinematographer Robert Richardson ("JFK") to make his directorial debut on an adaptation of James Ellroy's "White Jazz," a crime thriller that has Nick Nolte attached to star. Ellroy also wrote the novel "L.A. Confidential," upon which last year's film critics favorite was based. "White Jazz" follows a corrupt police lieutenant (Nolte) whose extracurricular activities catch up with him as federal agents investigate a botched mob hit, a burglary coverup and a blackmail scheme.

Lost & Found: French actress Sophie Marceau ("Braveheart") will star opposite David Spade ("Tommy Boy") for director Jeff Pollack ("Above the Rim") in Alcon Entertainment's "Lost & Found." The film, which will be distributed by Warner Bros., is a twist on a classic romantic comedy in which boy finds girl, finds girl's dog, loses girl's dog and thus loses girl. But when he finds dog, boy gets girl back.

Sympathy For The Devil: Good Machine, growing into a well-oiled enterprise, will produce and finance Boaz Yakim's supernatural thriller "Sympathy for the Devil," an adaptation of Athol Fugard's novel "Tsotsi" with Beth B helming and scripting, and is in final talks to set up the comedy "Finger Rocks" at United Artists under Bryan Buckley's direction.
