Jack Frost Talk of Angels Mighty Joe Young

Movie Posters: Above is the poster for "Jack Frost," a comedy about a father, Michael Keaton, who is killed and brought back to life in the form of his sons snowman. Also a poster for the Vincent Pérez/Polly Walker starrer "Talk of Angels" and a weird official one for "Mighty Joe Young" with thanks to 'Michael.'

Star Wars: Episode One - The Phantom Menace: The Official Site reports that on Friday, November 20th, Star Wars fans can get a glimpse of the upcoming Star Wars movie, as theaters across the U.S. and Canada will be showing trailers for Episode I The Phantom Menace. The trailer will not be attached to any particular film, but will instead play on a variety of films opening that weekend. The trailer will include over two minutes of footage from the new movie!

American Beauty: Wes Bentley ("Beloved") has landed a role in DreamWorks SKG's upcoming dark comedy "American Beauty." Bentley will portray Ricky, a young man who becomes involved with a suburban family whose male head is undergoing a midlife crisis. The film stars Kevin Spacey and Annette Bening. Also new to the cast in supporting roles are Mena Suvari, who will play Angela, and Thora Birch, who plays Jane.

Lazarus and the Hurricane: David Paymer ("Get Shorty") joins Denzel Washington ("Fallen") and Vicellous Reon Shannon in Universal Pictures' "Lazarus and the Hurricane" directed by Norman Jewison. In the biopic written by Dan Gordon, Washington plays Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, the world middleweight champ wrongfully imprisoned for the murders of three men in a New Jersey bar. Paymer will play Myron Beldoc, one of Carter's two lawyers. Shooting for begins Tuesday on location in New Jersey and Toronto.

The Opportunists: Christopher Walken is set to star in writer-director Myles Connell's indie drama "The Opportunists," which began shooting last month in New York. Developed through the Sundance Filmmakers Lab, Connell's story follows Walken as a veteran criminal living in an Irish neighborhood in Queens who is approached by a young man just arrived from Ireland and claiming to be a cousin.

Indiana Jones IV: Cinescape reports that George Lucas, speaking at the Screen Producers’ Association of Australia conference, revealed that the script for Indiana Jones 4 is finished and waiting for its director and star. "It really is a matter of Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford’s time frames." Both men currently have a variety of projects on their slate and, while making public comments that they’d enjoy filming another chapter, a start date has yet to be determined. Spielberg has confirmed that the script also calls for Sean Connery to return as Indy’s father.

Enemy of the State: LegitCrit recently caught a studio screening of "Enemy of the State," an upcoming action/thriller flick starring Will Smith. Click below to read his review if the film:

Twilight's Last Fading: Less than two days after hearing his story pitch, Columbia Pictures execs Thursday bought an idea from writer Marshall Todd for a political thriller to develop for director Roland Emmerich ("Godzilla," "ID4") and his Centropolis producing partner, Dean Devlin. Tentatively titled "Twilight's Last Fading" -the thriller imagines an impeached U.S. president refusing to abandon the White House and a dedicated FBI agent determined to get to the bottom of a conspiracy to undermine the U.S. Constitution.

As you might have noticed, a few things have changed during the last couple of days, such as a new section and some great new graphics here and there, created by my Graphical Assistant Craig Guiboche. Also, the results of the "I Still Know" poll are in, 50% are looking very much forward to it, 24% are kinda looking forward to it and 26% are absolutely not looking forward to it. Star Wars Prequels: Lucasfilm Ltd. and Fox Studios Australia announced yesterday that Star Wars Episodes II and III would be made at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney. The announcement comes after more than a year of discussions between Rick McCallum and Fox Studios Australia. Episode II, now being written by George Lucas, will begin in shooting in Sydney in 2000, while the third part will go into production in 2003. With a combined budget of $240 million, the films will effectively take over the six-soundstage News Corp.-owned Sydney facility.

Runaway Bride: Hector Elizondo is set to co-star with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in Paramount Pictures' "Runaway Bride," directed by Garry Marshall. In the romantic comedy, Elizondo will play Fisher, best friend and confidante of a cynical reporter (Gere), who writes an article about the marital near-misses of a commitment-phobic woman (Roberts) who has already left three grooms at the altar.

Patriot: Roland Emmerich ("Godzilla") is turning his eye to a film about the formation of the country. The German-born filmmaker is in talks to direct "Patriot," a Columbia Pictures project about the Revolutionary War written by Robert Rodat ("Saving Private Ryan")

Universal Soldier II: Some tidbits about Van Damme's upcoming sequel to the 1992 action hit "Universal Soldier" with thanks to 'Michael.'

Just wanted to let you know that Jean Claude Van Damme's new movie, "Universal Soldier II" has begun location shooting in my hometown of Shreveport, La. At a local lake in town, Caddo Lake, some production crews along with stand-ins for both Van Damme and a boy were spotted around the lake. I work at a t.v. station here in town as a tape editor and heard this bit of info. I don't have all the facts but I will certainly keep my eyes and ears open especially if Van Damme visits. I'll keep you informed!

Viva Rock Vegas: Stephen Baldwin is near a deal to play Barney Rubble in "Viva Rock Vegas," a second live-action installment of "The Flintstones." Baldwin joins Mark Addy ("The Full Monty"), who'll play Fred Flintstone in the Universal comedy. The studio is taking the second tale in a different direction and wanted to cast younger actors for a Stone Age prequel. Brian Levant is set to helm for the picture.

The Waterboy: LegitCrit caught a studio screening of this comedy starring Adam Sandler, Fairuza Balk and Kathy Bates. The movie will be released in the US tomorrow:

The Crow: Salvation: Eric Mabius ("Welcome to the Dollhouse") is in final talks to star in the third installment of "The Crow." Kirsten Dunst has already been announced for the cast of "The Crow: Salvation," which is scheduled to begin shooting in early 1999. Bharat Nalluri is directing the Dimension Films project from a script by Chip Johannessen.

Final Fantasy: The Movie: Sony Pictures Entertainment has acquired theatrical distribution rights throughout most of the world for a computer-generated animated film to be produced by Tokyo-based Square Co. Ltd. "Final Fantasy: The Movie," inspired by Square's interactive game, will be produced by its subsidiary, Square USA, at its new studio in Honolulu, Hawaii. "Columbia Pictures is extremely pleased to be distributing Hironobu Sakaguchi's brilliantly directed 'Final Fantasy: The Movie,' " said Chris Lee, president of production at Columbia Pictures. "Those of us who have witnessed the phenomenal success of the Final Fantasy VII on the Sony PlayStation game console are delighted to be part of bringing the film version to the public." Film is set for a release in 2001.

The Prince of Egypt You've Got Mail

Posters: First a poster for "The Prince of Egypt," which I'm 95% sure is the official [regular] US one. Also a better scan of the "You've Got Mail" poster. Thanks to 'Alex.'

Ghosting: Miramax Films has hired scribes Steve Susco and John Weidner to pen the screen adaptation of the comic book "Ghosting'' for its genre unit Dimension Films. The comic book, to be released in the fall of 1999 by Platinum Studios, introduces a new horror character who takes the practice of fraternity hazing to the extreme.

Jack Frost: The trailer for Michael Keaton's upcoming comedy/drama flick "Jack Frost" has arrived:

Joan of Arc: Dustin Hoffman ("Wag the Dog") has quietly taken a starring role in Sony's big-budget "Joan of Arc,'' directed by Luc Besson and starring Milla Jovovich in the title role. Hoffman begins shooting his role Monday, about five months after the mid-June kickoff of the picture. As usual on Luc Besson's movies, things are being kept very secret, so it's unknown which role he'll be playing .. for now.

Crouching Tiger, Leaping Dragon: Ang Lee ("Sense and Sensibility") is ready to do a full out Chinese action film for his next turn, and he wants Asia's premier action stars for the lead roles. "Crouching Tiger, Leaping Dragon'' will likely shoot in China, with Chinese dialogue. Lee has offered the leads to Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh. Full Story >>>

Bullfighter: Willem Dafoe is in final negotiations to star as a mystical warrior-priest in Scanbox Danmark's "Bullfighter,'' the directorial debut of Danish-born Rune Bendixen. A millennial comedy about sex, guns and God, the independent film will star Michael Parks, Jared Harris, Domenica Cameron-Scorsese and Alexander Kolpin, and will also feature cameos by filmmakers Robert Rodriguez and Guillermo del Toro.
