The Hi-Lo Country Shakespeare In Love The Faculty

Movie Page: A poster for the Woody Harrelson/Billy Crudup/Patricia Arquette starrer "The Hi-Lo Country" and a poster for "Shakespeare in Love" starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Joseph Fiennes. Also the long awaited poster for "The Faculty." Thanks to 'Michael,' 'Kevin,' Dark Horizons and 'Bob Shell.'

American Psycho: It seems like "American Psycho" has finally received a green light from Lions Gate Films, with Christian Bale in the lead role as cold-blooded yuppie Patrick Bateman. Mary Harron ("I Shot Andy Warhol") will write and direct. Also set for the adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel are Willem Dafoe and Jared Leto. The picture, set for a March 1 start, is said to have a $10 million-$15 million budget.

Leatherheads: George Clooney and director Steven Soderbergh are set to make the period football comedy "Leatherheads." The film chronicles the early days of professional football in the 1920s, and follows an aging footballer who convinces a young college star to dump his school and play in the pros.

Tusker: The team behind "Antz" have begun work on a computer animated film called "Tusker." The picture follows a herd of elephants on a perilous trek across Southeast Asia. In their travels, they encounter a wide variety of dangers, including a band of marauding poachers. Tim Johnson and Brad Lewis, "Antz's" co-director and producer will co-direct "Tusker."

Virus Movie Trailers: In case you missed it, the trailer for "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" was recently released. Also an official trailer for "Virus."

Any Given Sunday: Pro football legends Jim Brown and Lawrence Taylor have joined the acting team of Oliver Stone's football project for Warner Bros. Ann-Margret and Bill Bellamy also have been added the cast of Al Pacino, Cameron Diaz, Dennis Quaid, James Woods, Jamie Foxx, LL Cool J and Matthew Modine. Stone's story revolves around a fictitious Miami Sharks football team. The film, formerly known as "Any Given Sunday," is slated to get under way in January in Miami.

Rockwood: Lee Tamahori ("The Edge'') is set to take the helm of the military-political drama "Rockwood.'' The Universal feature is based on the real-life story of U.S. Army Capt. Lawrence Rockwood, who was court-martialed after rebelling against U.S. Army indifference to human rights abuses in Haiti during Operation Restore Democracy in 1994. "Rockwood'' is tentatively slated for a May start, with shooting possibly taking place in the Dominican Republic. No casting news as of yet.

Everything's Jake: Ernie Hudson will star in the the indie drama "Everything's Jake" for freshman filmmakers Matthew Miele and Christopher Fetchko. Howie Mandel, Debbie Allen, Sylvia Miles, Joyce Randolph of "The Honeymooners" and Fred Norris of Howard Stern's radio show are slated to appear in the low-budget film, which is shooting this month in New York under Miele's direction. Hudson will play Jake, a cantankerous homeless man who prefers life on the streets because he wants nothing to do with society. He befriends an elegant intellectual who recently joined the ranks of the homeless.

Rules of Engagement: Samuel L. Jackson is talks to star alongside Tommy Lee Jones in "Rules of Engagement,'' a Paramount drama to be directed by William Friedkin next year. Pic is based on a script originated by James Webb. The story is about a soldier whose career aspirations are dashed when he's wounded in Vietnam combat. He then becomes a disillusioned lawyer, who goes up against the service to defend a soldier accused of inciting an incident that leaves many demonstrators dead. The lawyer's in no position to decline, since the potential client had heroically saved the lawyer's life in Vietnam. Jones committed to play the attorney last month, and Jackson will play the career soldier who's being court-martialed for violating the accepted rules of engagement in inciting the incident.

Patch Adams

Patch Adams: A poster for the upcoming Robin Williams film "Patch Adams," which is a true story about a medical student in the 70's that treated patients, illegally, at his home using humor. Also be sure to check out the newly opened Official Site.

Bicentennial Man: This film is set for a February start and is poised to resume its place as one of Disney's big holiday offerings next year. The project - with Robin Williams starring and Chris Columbus directing a Nicholas Kazan-scripted adaptation of the Isaac Asimov story, is not back on track after some problems with the budget.

Love in Paris: Writer/director James Toback ("Two Girls and a Guy"), has agreed to take the helm of "Love in Paris," a coming-of-age romance set against the worlds of fashion and crime in New York and Paris. "Love in Paris" is particularly enticing in its radical mix of social, national, and sexual perspectives," Toback said. Full Story >>>

Red Team: This thriller is about a young FBI agent that suspects a possible serial killer is stalking suspected serial killers. Partrick Muldoon ("Beverly Hills 90210" and "Days Of Our Lives") plays a FBI agent whose job is to apprehend serial killers. Also starting in the film are Fred Ward ("The Right Stuff"), Cathy Moriarty ("Raging Bull"), C. Thomas Howell ("The Outsiders"), and Tim Thomerson ("Trancers"). The film is directed by Jeremy Half. The Bachelor: Brooke Shields has landed a role in New Line Cinema's "The Bachelor." Shields will play a former debutante and ex-girlfriend to Chris O'Donnell, a bachelor who has 24 hours to get married and collect $100 million. She joins a cast including Renee Zellweger, James Cromwell, Marley Shelton, Stacy Edwards and Sarah Silverman. "The Bachelor" is in production with Gary Sinyor directing from a script by Steve Cohen. Lloyd Segan and Bing Howenstein are producing with Steve Hollocker co-producing and O'Donnell executive producing.

Who's on First: Alison Eastwood and Jonathon Schaech are set to star in independent feature "Who's on First," by first-time director David Snedeker. The romantic comedy centers on a young man (Schaech) who pretends to be homosexual so he can rent a room from the woman of his dreams (Eastwood). Meanwhile, she keeps trying to fix him up with other men. Gabrielle Anwar and James LeGros co-star. David Ornston, Richard Salvatore and Joey Travolta of 2 Sticks Prods. are producing "Who's on First" along with Willi Baer and Carmen Miller of Eternity Pictures. Marc Sferrazza is exec producing. The feature rolls into production Tuesday in New York.

A Simple Plan: The Official Site for this Bill Paxton/Billy Bob Thornton starrer has opened up fully. Above are a few pics, for more, check out the official site. This film is set to open December 4th in the US and has gotten great reviews.

In Dreams (Blue Vision): Kevin saw a teaser poster for DreamWorks' next release after "Prince of Egypt," a movie called "In Dreams" starring Annette Bening and Robert Downey Jr. It's basically the lighted half of a blue-eyed woman somewhat covered by the silhouette of the rest of her face, with the title "In Dreams" and credits at the bottom. Thanks again to Kevin.

Women Talking Dirty: Helena Bonham Carter is set to star in "Women Talking Dirty,'' the first film from Rocket Pictures, Elton John's production company. Bonham Carter will play the lead role of Cora in the comic story of an unlikely friendship between two Scottish women who help each other through life's ups and downs. Shooting is set to begin next March in Edinburgh. Coky Giedroyc will direct. It's based on a novel by Isla Dewar, who also wrote the screenplay. John will act as executive producer and will also supervise the soundtrack.

Komodo: Kevin Zegers ("Air Bud") has signed to star in the independent film "Komodo," which marks the directorial debut of special effects maven Michael Lantieri. Zegers will star in the science fiction movie about a young boy who, after suffering the horrific loss of his parents, comes face to face with Komodo dragons existing in today's world. Jill Hennessy ("Law & Order") and Billy Burke ("Without Limits") also star.

Trumpet Call: Miramax has snapped up the rights to a biopic about a legendary trumpet player, who plummeted to his death from an Amsterdam hotel at the age of 58, as a star vehicle for DiCaprio, 24. The deal edges out two other box office lions, Brad Pitt and Jim Carrey, who had both pined for the role. DiCaprio and Miramax co-chairman Harvey Weinstein's last-minute bid for the rights overshadowed Paramount's pitch, which would have landed Carrey in the role. Meanwhile, Brillstein-Grey's attempt to snag the material for Pitt was nixed by Baker's estate on the grounds that the production company's internal turmoil might bury the project.
