Brian Henson and Martin Baker will produce.

Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace: Above is a great copy of the official one-sheet teaser poster and also a banner. I really like it, it's simple, yet effective, just like the advance posters for Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi were when first released. The images are courtesy of the Official Site with thanks to Dave and 'Michael.'

Gun Shy: Michael Weatherly ("The Last Days of Disco") has joined the cast of "Gun Shy" opposite Sandra Bullock and Liam Neeson. Weatherly will play an agent assigned to back up his hero, a world-weary DEA agent (Neeson), who must get through one final case before retiring. Bullock plays a nurse who becomes romantically involved with Neeson.

For the Love of the Game: John C. Reilly ("Hard Eight," "Boogie Nights") will serve as catcher and confidante of Kevin Costner in "For the Love of the Game," the Universal feature directed by Sam Raimi about a washed up pitcher who flashes through his career during a perfect game. The film also stars Richard T. Jones and Kelly Preston.

Josiah's Canon: Tony Scott ("Enemy of the State") is closing in on his next directorial outing: The helmer is in negotiations to direct Fox 2000's "Josiah's Canon." The action-thriller involves a Holocaust survivor who leads the world's foremost team of bank robbers on a heist of a Swiss bank that houses riches deposited by Jews who died in concentration camps.

Celebrity Celebrity: A poster for the upcoming Woody Allen film "Celebrity." The film is about a reknowned writer who quits writing so he can improve his relationship with his wife. The film stars Hank Azaria, Kenneth Branagh, Judy Davis and Leonardo DiCaprio among others.

Along Came a Spider: Paramount is hoping fora spring start for "Along Came a Spider," the sequel to "Kiss the Girls." It is rumored that Paramount got a strong script by Mark Moss, who did rewrite work on "Kiss the Girls." The studio had a sequel option with Freeman, but the big question will be whether director Gary Fleder will be back.

A Reasonable Man: Nigel Hawthorne ("Madness of King George") is set to star in "A Reasonable Man,'' a murder-mystery courtroom drama. It tells the story of a city lawyer who comes across the case of an 18-year-old boy in remote rural Zululand who has killed a baby in the mistaken belief he has killed an evil spirit, known in South Africa as the "Tokoloshe." The lawyer takes the case and enters a world of witchcraft and mysticism to discover the truth about the killing - and about the dark secrets he has buried within himself. South African filmmaker Gavin Wood is directing from his own script.

Invisible Circus: Cameron Diaz ("There's Something About Mary") is all but set for a co-starring role in "Invisible Circus,'' an offbeat drama for Fine Line which will shoot in Paris next May. Seen through flashbacks, Diaz will play a woman who has killed herself. Fine Line president Mark Ordesky is close to hiring an actress to play her teenage sister, who takes a trip to Paris in the '70s trying to find the truth about her sibling's suicide. The story takes an unusual twist when the younger sister falls in love with her dead sister's boyfriend. While it is unusual to sign the co-star first, landing Diaz has made the other two leads all the more desirable for casting. The film will be directed by Adam Brooks from his adaptation of a novel by Jennifer Egan.

November 10th 1998 - Movie News/Rumours

The 13th Warrior

The 13th Warrior: A new image from the much-delayed film "The 13th Warrior" starring Antonio Banderas. It looks like some sort of artwork for the film, with thanks to 'Brandon' for the picture.

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace: The "Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace" one-sheet poster, whose image includes a young man standing in a desert, was done with a special five-color process as an anti-counterfeiting device - the Fox logo in the corner changes color beneath a blacklight. Sources said the sheet should be in theaters by Nov. 20, the same day the film's two-minute trailer begins screening. For a sneak peek at the poster, check out this site. The poster should be shown on tonight's edition of "Entertainment Tonight," and I wouldn't say no to a capture/scan of some sorts.

Rocky and Bullwinkle: Jason Alexander will go from master of his own domain to purveyor of evil. The star has been tapped to play Boris Badenov in "Rocky and Bullwinkle," which starts production in January. While the title characters will be created with computer-generated technology, the film is now filling its casting quotient of humans. Monica Potter ("Without Limits") is already cast as the FBI agent who teams up with the squirrel and moose to thwart the evil Boris and Natasha Fatale. Universal's adaptation of the Jay Ward cartoon will be directed by Des McAnuff from a script by Kenny Lonergan.

The Perfect Storm: Director Wolfgang Petersen ("Air Force One") has committed to make "The Perfect Storm" his next feature. The high-profile adaptation of the Sebastian Junger bestseller is set up at Warner Bros., which is forecasting a spring start date. "The Perfect Storm'' relates the true story of the fishing boat Andrea Gail, whose entire crew perished in one of the century's worst storms, with waves that reached 100 feet high.

Shakespeare in Love: A trailer for this romantic comedy starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Joseph Fiennes and Judi Dench:

Munchies: In a move that seems to indicate MGM is still very much in the feature film production business, the studio has made an outright mid-six figure buy of David Kukoff and Matt Roshkow's spec script "Munchies" for Davis Entertainment. The teen comedy, described as "Clueless'' meets "Night of the Living Dead,'' focuses on four unpopular, anorexic high school girls who recover to become cannibals.

End of Days: Gabriel Byrne ("The Usual Suspects") is in final negotiations to play Satan opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in Beacon Communications' superbig-budget action-thriller "End of Days." In the film Byrne's angel of darkness turns up in Manhattan in search of a bride, and only Schwarzenegger - an ex-cop who heads an elite security firm - can stop Satan from destroying the world.

Ame Agaru: The final screenplay by the late director Akira Kurosawa will be made into a film by members of his production team, according to Japanese media reports Sunday. Filming for "Ame Agaru" (After the Rain), a drama about a masterless samurai and his wife, will begin in spring and end next autumn, Kyodo News reported. It will mark a reunion of many of the director's production team. Kurosawa is said to have begun work on the screenplay, which is based on a short story by the late Shuguro Yamamoto, in 1995, when financial difficulties forced him to halt production of "Umi no Miteita" (The Ocean Was Watching), which would have been his 31st film.
