What Lies Beneath: Michelle Pfeiffer is set to star opposite Harrison Ford in the supernatural thriller "What Lies Beneath." Robert Zemeckis ("Forrest Gump") is helming DreamWorks' closely guarded project from a script by Clark Gregg. The Faculty: Miramax's Dimension Films banner will spend a record $30 million to release the sci-fi thriller "The Faculty'' this Christmas. "The Faculty,'' which goes wide on more than 3,000 screens on Dec. 25, marks the first collaboration between Kevin Williamson ("Scream 1-2"), and Robert Rodriguez ("From Dusk Till Dawn," "Desperado.") Full Story >>> Twister 2: Warner Bros. has hired Darren Lemke to pen a sequel to the hit 1996 cyclone pic Twister. Lemkes Twister 2 deal is worth a reported mid- against high-six figures. Sources said hell work from a story by Michael Crichton. Dr. Dolittle 2: Eddie Murphy is set to star in a "Dr. Dolittle'' sequel. Murphy is working with Fox and producers John Davis, Joseph Singer and David Friendly to hire a writer to script a sequel in which he'll star. But Fox will have to hire a new director. Betty Thomas, who helmed the first film, won't be returning. Movie Trailers: A streaming trailer for the upcoming animated feature "A Bug's Life." Also the full "Psycho" trailer in Quicktime. Tales From The Crypt: The Jitters: 'Brad' reports that the third Tales From The Crypt has just finished filming and is in post production. It supposedly stars Ben Stiller and Bill Murray. The story is being well kept, but he know that it involves man-eating bugs! It should be out this February. Can anyone confirm this rumor, I have my doubts myself... Thanks to 'Brad.' Jello Shots: Tara Reid and Jerry O'Connell have taken the leads in "Jello Shots,'' joining Brad Rowe, Sean Patrick Flanery and Amanda Peet in the cast. The New Line film concerns a group of friends who find that a wild, drunken night has legal and moral consequences. Michael Cristofer ("Gia'') directs from a script by David McKenna ("American History X"). Practical Magic: LegitCrit recently caught a studio screening of this upcoming Sandra Bullock/Nicole Kidman comedy. They would play the young French backpackers, Francoise and Etienne, who become involved in a romantic triangle with DiCaprio's character when they set out together to track down rumors of a perfect beach on a remote island in Thailand. 13 Days: Kevin Costner is in talks to work with director Phil Alden Robinson on "13 Days,'' a fact-based drama set during the Cuban missile crisis. Based largely on the life story of Kenneth O'Donnell, president John F. Kennedy's chief of staff, the Universal project tells the true story of the two-week showdown between the Kennedy Administration and the Soviets in 1962. The role to be played by Costner is still being defined, but he will not play Kennedy. David Self is writing the script.

Simpatico: Sharon Stone, Jeff Bridges, Catherine Keener and Nick Nolte are in final talks to star in the independent drama "Simpatico.'' The $10 million-plus picture is about a horse-racing scam that causes the relationship between two friends to deteriorate. The friendship is then reexamined 20 years later. British director Matthew Warchus will helm the picture. The 13th Warrior: Walt Disney foreign arm Buena Vista Film Sales will handle international distribution of the long-delayed Touchstone release "The Thirteenth Warrior,'' starring Antonio Banderas. The John McTiernan-helmed picture, based on the novel "Eaters of the Dead'' by Michael Crichton, finished shooting in November 1997 but is not due for release in the U.S. until summer 1999. The Gelfin: Vince Vaughn, Cuba Gooding Jr., Josh Hartnett, and Trini Alvarado are in talks to star in "The Gelfin", a horror-comedy about a young man (Hartnett) who is being stalked by a gelfin (Vaughn). A Gelfin is a supernatural demon sent to destroy all males born under the mysterious black moon. Mitchell Lake (Gooding Jr.) is a "Garro", a protector of those born under the moon. Trini Alvarado will play a hospital nurse who helps Gooding and Hartnett destroy the Gelfin before it's too late. The film is set for release Fall 2001. Hewitt-obsessed 'Ben Willis' for the scoop: Anna and the King: Jodie Foster is in final negotiations to star opposite Chow Yun Fat in "Anna and the King'' for Fox 2000 - a role that would put her with Julia Roberts as Hollywood's highest-paid actress. With only some smaller points to be worked out, according to sources close to the project, the final deal calls for Foster to receive $15 million for her portrayal of the 19th century British school teacher Anna Leonowens. Memoirs of a Geisha: Maggie Cheung ("Chinese Box") has joined the cast of Columbia Pictures' Memoirs of a Geisha, Steven Spielberg's epic Cinderella story set against the exotic and sumptuous background of a vanished world. Cheung is cast in the pivotal role of Mameha, the mentor of Nitta Sayuri, a nine-year-old girl sold into slavery at one of Kyoto's most renowned geisha houses. Under Mameha's tutelage, Nitta grows to maturity and becomes one of the stars of the geisha world as the Second World War looms on the horizon. Newcomers Rika Okamoto and Julyana Soelistyo also star in Memoirs of a Geisha. Douglas Wick, Spielberg, Ian Bryce and Bonnie Curtis are producing. Thanks to Andreas and 'Kevin' for these wonderful posters! Black and White: Claudia Schiffer is set to join Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Elijah Wood and Gaby Hoffman in "Black and White.'' The film is about a group of white high school teens and their excursions into the lives of Harlem's black hip-hop crowd. James Toback ("Two Girls and a Guy") helms. Silent Running: Simon West ("Con Air") has signed to develop a remake of the 1971 sci-fi ecology drama "Silent Running.'' In the original, which is set in the year 2000, Bruce Dern played an astronaut whose spaceship contains the last reserves of Earth's forests. When Dern's character is instructed to destroy the forests, he instead creates his own plan to save the forests. West will direct and produce the Universal project from a script by Rudy Gaines and John Rice. No talent is attached. The Siege: A second trailer has been released for this upcoming Denzel Washington/Bruce Willis thriller:
The Man Who Came to Dinner: Danny DeVito is in negotiations to direct and play a supporting role in DreamWorks' remake of the 1941 comedy feature "The Man Who Came to Dinner.'' The satirical tale revolves around a bombastic talk show host who returns to his Midwestern alma mater in order to accept an award. He wreaks havoc on the lives of the unfortunate, wealthy family with whom he is staying after he is forced to recuperate from an injury. DeVito will take the supporting role of Ed Stanley. The Third Miracle: Ed Harris and Anne Heche will star in the indie drama "The Third Miracle." Agnieszka Holland is directing the picture, which is based on the novel by Richard Vetere. Set against the backdrop of the modern-day church, it explores the conflicts between organized religion and individual spirituality. In the film, the Vatican sends a priest to verify some miracles, perpetrated by a woman who has been nominated for sainthood. During his investigation, the priest, who is experiencing a crisis of faith, re-discovers his own purpose in life.
