You've Got Mail: Above are four new on-set photos from the upcoming romantic comedy, "You've Got Mail" starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. I Dreamed of Africa: Robert Loggia will co-star with Kim Basinger, Vincent Perez and Eva Marie Saint in the fact-based "I Dreamed of Africa." The Columbia Pictures project relates the true story of Kuki Gallman, an Italian woman who relocates to Africa and finds hardship and tragedy. Basinger plays Gallman, and Loggia will play her father. The film, directed by Hugh Hudson, will shoot in South Africa and Italy. Hamlet: Variety reports that a contemporary retelling of "Hamlet" is coming together, with Ethan Hawke in the title role and Kyle MacLachlan as Claudius. Also featured will be Sam Shepard as the ghost, Julia Stiles as Ophelia, Diane Venora as Gertrude and Bill Murray as Polonius. Psycho: A third commercial has been released by the official site. In the Boom Boom Room: Patricia Arquette is in talks to star in "In the Boom Boom Room," a $10 million independent feature based on the well-known play by David Rabe. It will mark the first fiction film directed by two-time documentary Oscar winner Barbara Kopple ("American Dream"). Set in the late 1960s, "Boom" is a hard-edged, uncompromising story about the rape of a go-go dancer in Philadelphia. Producer Robert Michael Geisler commissioned the screenplay from Rabe 20 years ago. Mystery Men: Greg Kinnear ("As Good as It Gets") has landed a key role in Universal Pictures' "Mystery Men" for Lawrence Gordon Prods. and Dark Horse Entertainment. In this tale of a crazed band of self-proclaimed superheroes, Kinnear plays Captain Amazing, the only one among them with true superhero powers who sees the others grabbing credit for his good deeds. The film also stars Ben Stiller, Hank Azaria, Geoffrey Rush, Janeane Garofalo and Lena Olin.

Also a British Quad for DreamWorks' animated feature, "The Prince of Egypt." Thanks to 'Michael' for the heads up. The End of the Affair: Julianne Moore is in talks to star with Ralph Fiennes and Stephen Rea in "The End of the Affair,'' a World War II drama based on a Graham Greene novel. Moore would play Rea's repressed wife, who engages in an adulterous affair with Fiennes. The action takes place in London. Neil Jordan will direct the project from his own script. The Magic of Marciano: Nastassja Kinski and Robert Forster will head the cast of a small budget drama, "The Magic of Marciano." The project is about a 10-year-old boy (Cody Morgan) who shares an intense bond with his mentally ill mother (Kinski). The youth's life is turned upside down when his mother lapses into violent psychosis. A former psychiatrist (Forster) takes pity on, and then custody of, the child. Lost Souls: John Hurt, Philip Baker Hall and Elias Koteas have been added to cast of New Line Cinema's "Lost Souls," starring Winona Ryder and Ben Chaplin. Also cast in the supernatural thriller "Lost Souls," are Leslie Stefanson, John Diehl and W. Earl Brown. This will be the feature directing debut of Oscar-winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski. Ryder portrays a young woman who becomes aware of a conspiracy that will enable Satan to walk the earth. The Million Dollar Hotel: Mel Gibson will take a starring role in the Wim Wenders-helmed "The Million Dollar Hotel." Jeremy Davies ("Saving Private Ryan") and Milla Jovovich will play two misfits in a seedy hotel whose lives are turned upside down by a badgering detective trying to solve a possible murder. Gibson, who might shave his head for the role, would play the detective. A Stir of Echoes: Illeana Douglas ("Picture Perfect") will star opposite Kevin Bacon in "A Stir of Echoes." She plays a woman who uses her hypnotherapy skills on brother-in-law Bacon at a party; she unleashes a vision of a murdered girl who's haunting the house. David Koepp ("Snake Eyes") will direct the project from his adaptation of Richard Matheson's novel. Ordinary Decent Criminal: Helen Baxendale (TV's "Friends") has signed to star with Kevin Spacey and Linda Fiorentino in the gangster comedy "Ordinary Decent Criminal." Baxendale plays Lisa, Fiorentino's sister. Shooting began Sept. 29 in Dublin. Thadeus O'Sullivan is directing from Gerard Stembridge's script. Miramax has North American rights. Detroit Rock City: Edward Furlong ("Terminator 2") will rock 'n' roll in "Detroit Rock City," a comedy featuring the four original members of Kiss. The New Line picture is about four teens who'll stop at nothing to scam their way into a sold-out Kiss concert. Furlong will play Hawk, the assured, confident leader of the group. Getting into the groove alongside him will be Natasha Lyonne, as a wisecracking, disco-loving Italian girl. Band members Gene Simmons, Peter Criss, Ace Frehley and Paul Stanley will play themselves, with Simmons also serving as a producer. Adam Rifkin ("Mouse Hunt") will direct.
Girl, Interrupted: Angelina Jolie ("Hackers") is in talks to join Winona Ryder ("Reality Bites") in Columbia Pictures' "Girl, Interrupted." The picture, produced by Douglas Wick's Red Wagon Prods. and directed by James Mangold, is based on Susanna Kaysen's book about her experiences as a teenager in a mental asylum from 1967-69. History Is Made at Night: Bruno Kirby ("City Slickers") is in talks to co-star in "History Is Made at Night" for Scala Pictures. The film also stars Bill Pullman and Irene Jacob and is directed by Ilkka Jarvilaton. "History" is a humorous drama about KGB agents (Pullman and Jacob) who fall in love while on a mission to obtain a valuable videotape. Tomb Raider: 'ritchieK' reports that Luc Besson (The 5th Element) is in talks to co-write and direct the video-game-based adventure flick for Paramount. Thanks to 'ritchieK.' Committed: Casey Affleck and Luke Wilson have committed to the Heather Graham-topped "Committed" for Miramax Films. Shooting began last week in Texas on the dramedy, which centers on an intense young woman (Graham) whose husband (Wilson) leaves her to find himself. She travels across the country trying to find him, but complications crop up when they reconnect. Affleck plays the woman's brother. The cast also includes Summer Phoenix, Clea DuVall ("The Faculty") and "Like Water for Chocolate" director Alfonso Arau. Dangerous Evidence: Lynn Whitfield ("Eve's Bayou") will star in the Lifetime original film "Dangerous Evidence.'' The $2.4 million movie is based on the true story of Lori Jackson, a civil rights activist (Whitfield), who fights for five years to free a black Marine corporal falsely accused of raping a white woman near the Quantico Marine base in Virginia. Joe Gould's Secret: The next project from Stanley Tucci ("The Impostors") will be "Joe Gould's Secret.'' Tucci will star and direct from a script by Howard Rodman. The project will explore the symbiotic relationship between Joseph Mitchell, a longtime writer for the New Yorker, and Gould, a Greenwich Village bohemian who claimed to be writing an oral history of New York during the 1940s and 1950s. Mystery Men: Ben Stiller ("There's Something About Mary") has been hired to star in "Mystery Men,'' an offbeat comedy about loser superheroes. Commercials director Kinka Usher will helm from an adaptation of Bob Burden's comic book. Stiller will play Mr. Furious, the angriest and craziest of a band of self-proclaimed superheroes. Fueled by a rage that stems from his parents' neglect, Furious and his not-so-super mates, Blue Raja (Hank Azaria) and the Shoveler, band to fight their archenemy, Casanova Frankenstein, played by Geoffrey Rush. Paul Reubens, Claire Forlani, Janeane Garofalo and Lena Olin have also been cast in the picture.
