The Weight of Water: Variety reports that Ulrich Thomsen ("The Celebration") has joined the cast of "The Weight of Water" for director Kathryn Bigelow ("Strange Days"). "The latest news is that the lead character, Aki Ross, will be voiced by Ming-Na Wen and motion captured from Tori Eldridge, a renowned dancer and martial artist. The name of Alec Baldwin's character is still unknown, but said character will be motion captured from Matt McKenzie, a relative unknown whose most notable work to date has been Colin Clive in Gods and Monsters. No new details have come out regarding the plot, save that it has "strong spiritual undertones." Loser: Actor Jason Biggs ("American Pie") is in final negotiations to take on the lead role in Amy Heckerling's "Loser." The role will earn him almost $1 million. The Columbia Pictures college romantic-comedy is slated to start shooting in November on location in Toronto and New York. Heckerling also wrote the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Road Trip: Breckin Meyer ("Go") has landed a lead role in DreamWorks' college-set comedy "Road Trip." Meyer will play the character of Josh, opposite Amy Smart ("Outside Providence"). The film details the misadventures of four students making a thousand-mile jaunt to another school. Smart's character goes in search of her true love (Meyer) after he and his buddies take to the road. Commercial helmer Todd Phillips will direct from a script that he co-wrote along with Scot Armstrong. Pic is scheduled to start shooting this month, THR reports.

Get Carter: Variety reports that Miranda Richardson ("The Apostle") and Rachael Leigh Cook ("She's All That") have joined WB's gangster thriller "Get Carter" starring Sylvester Stallone. Stephen Kay ("The Last Time I Committed Suicide") will direct the remake of the 1971 pic about a revenge-bent mobster (Stallone) scouring the underworld after his brother's murder. Richardson will play the female lead, the widow of the slain brother - Cook will play their daughter. Urban Legend 2: Joseph Lawrence ("Summer Rental") recently signed on to "Urban Legend 2" for Phoenix Pictures. Cinescape Online reports that Jennifer Morrison ("Intersection") and newcomer Matthew Davis will play film students involved in a production wherein someone is killing off the cast and crew one-by-one. The film will also star Jessica Cauffiel ("The Out-of-Towners"), Anthony Anderson ("Me, Myself and Irene") and Loretta Devine (who will be reprising her role of the campus security officer from the first film). The Weight of Water: Variety reports that Josh Lucas has joined Sean Penn and Catherine McCormack in "The Weight of Water." Kathryn Bigelow ("Point Break") directs. Dr. T and the Women: Laura Dern ("Jurassic Park") joins the cast of "Dr. T and the Women," playing a young mother of three who's dumped by her husband. Richard Gere, Helen Hunt, Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson also star, according to Variety. Scream 3: WesCraven.com recently added the following report: "last night ended the 3rd to last day of shooting, ending Liev Schreiber's days on the pic. We've already finished Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and most of the others. Courteney Cox and Parker Posey work Tuesday to end their work, and we have one last day, Wednesday, with Kelly from Melrose Place. Then that's it!
