Murray Abraham in "For Love Or Mummy - The All New Adventures of Laurel and Hardy" THE OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS In ancient Egypt. the mighty and ruthless Pharao Houtah, having made a pact with the Demon of the Underworld, is placed in his burial chamber. An unholy union with a bride, born at a specified time, failed to take place and the Pharao must sleep for another three thousand years until the stars align once more and bring forth a new bride to complete the evil of the Serpent Spirit. Three thousand years hence, we meet Laurel and Hardy as they prepare to attend a meeting of the Fraternal Order of the Nile. The Order is honored to receive Abdullah Farouk, who had brought the sarcophagus bearing the mummy of Pharao Houtah from Egypt to Augusta Bay, Florida. Eager to impress Farouk, Laurel and Hardy volunteer to transport the precious sarcophagus from the dock to the local museum, where it will form part of an exhibition of Egyptian artifacts. The exhibition has been arranged by Professor Covington, an Egyptologist who rose to prominence some years earlier after discovering the tomb of Pharao Houtah. Professor Covington presides over the museum with his daughter, Leslie, and is delighted at being able to exhibit the sarcophagus bearing Houtah's mummy. He is unaware that his beloved Leslie is the chosen bride of Pharao Houtah and that Farouk's reasons for bringingh the mummy to Florida have little to do with the exhibition. When Laurel and Hardy, after much hilarious bungling, finally manage to deliver the sarcophagus to the museum, Ollie is captivated by Leslie and falls hopelessly in love with her. Leslie, oblivious to Ollie's feelings for her and grafeful of their efforts, invites both he and Stan to the opening of the exhibition. As invited guests mingle at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Leslie falls for the charms of the scheming Farouk much to Ollie's dismay; meantime, in the room where the sarcophagus is housed, the mummy stirs. The mummy escapes and begins the search for his chosen bride. This puts him on a collision course with the hapless Laurel and Hardy as they try to outsmart him and protect Leslie from his evil clutches. The Professor explains to them that the only hope they have of neautralising the mummy is by returning him to the sarcophagus, so our heroes head for the museum in order to fetch the sarcophagus. The mummy kidnaps Leslie and takes her to a harbor warehouse where an alter has been erected for their marriage ceremony. In a gripping climax, Laurel and Hardy burst into the warehouse where they find Leslie laid out on the alter in preparation for the wedding ceremony that has been orchestrated and is to be presided by Farouk. While our heroes tackle the irrepressible Mummy, Leslie dispatches Farouk with a live cobra. After a hefty struggle, Laurel and Hardy finally manage to topple the unfortunate mummy into the sarcophagus and rescue Leslie.
